Ridiculous fear

Does anyone else have this fear of accidentally dropping/driving your car into the bay area service window when you are going to get your oil changed? You know, the places where the automotive techs don't drive it in themselves but insist you pull it forward over that ominous, gaping opening? And you have to negotiate the area vvvveeeeerrry ( Read more... )

Oh my gosh YES! I don't have a car anymore, but when I did I always worried about that. As difficult as it is to have a car in Manhattan, I still wish I had one.....but then I remember things like this....

I am so relieved that someone else has felt this way. The automotive tech on Saturday got a little impatient with me because I wouldn't pull forward more quickly. I'm almost tempted to go to a place where you just park it outside and they pull it in themselves. What's worse is once I had managed to drive it in and gotten settled into the waiting room, I came to the realization that I had taken both my debit and checkbook out of my purse earlier in the day and neglected to put them back. Thankfully, they hadn't yet performed any work on the car and I was able to stop them. So, I have to go back later this week and do it again. GRRRRR

One time I got so close they all started screaming really scared like, and one of them convinced me to get out of the car VERY SLOWLY and let him drive it.

When I got out, my wheel was centered up on the metal thing.

ZZZZZZZZZ <-- tire

Oh my gosh, Paul. That would really frighten me! Yikes.

I am so relieved that someone else feels this way. The automotive tech seemed a little impatient that I didn't drive faster over the bay. Or maybe he was just having a bad day. Can't be sure. My depth perception is not the greatest sometimes, so maybe that has something to do with being fearful of getting the car hung up.

The worst part is once I had gotten my car in, I left and went to the waiting room. I began rifling through my purse and realized that I had taken out my debit card and checkbook from my wallet and neglected to put them back in. So I had to go out and stop them before they had a chance to do any work on the car. Thankfully, they had just barely cracked the hood. Anyway, as a result, I have to return later this week to have the oil changed.
