"Where were you stationed?"
I was talking to a young veteran who mistakenly came to our building on his way to his first counseling appointment. We talked while I was on hold with the main VA hospital operator who was helping me direct him to the correct place.
"Fallujah. It really messed me up."
He looked hunted. "My wife just filed for divorce. I'm going to lose my little boy."
He talked a little bit about his experience, and as he prepared to leave, he said, "If you're a churchgoer, please pray for me."
Pray for him.
