You know, it's interesting that you called out that one line, because...I THINK I mentioned to you in earlier feedback response that there was a bit in a later chapter that lorelaisquared and I debated at great length because we were afraid that it upset the Doctor/John Smith balance, and that line was it. I was really worried that that line would belittle John or make him less important or something. But at the same time, it's all true. So I'm glad that you loved that line so much! Yay!

And ooooh, I love your interpretation of the kiss! That's exactly how I saw it too. Like, he could handle suffering through the memories, because they were just memories, but once he experienced it first hand, that was the final straw. Poor Doctor. I just wanted to pet him through this whole thing. Earlier in the fic when people were all upset with him for being cold, I just kept thinking, "But how would YOU feel?!" Poor guy :(
