Another little silly thing from my day yesterday.
You wouldn't know this unless you're really, really familiar with Davis, but Davis has
London buses. Yup. That's right. We have London buses. Completely old-fashioned double-decker, historical London buses. They only run them on certain bus lines in-town, and even then only usually at the slower route times, but they have them, and they're cool. You can walk around Davis, and a double-decker bus goes by, and it's a total squee moment. Until you get used to them.
But the thing is…somehow in my year and a half or so of living in Davis…I have never had an opportunity to ride one. Mind you, I'd ridden one in London when I was there in 2002. But I haven't been on one in Davis, even though I see them in my daily life.
Until yesterday.
Let me tell you how giddy I was when I ran out to catch the bus after class yesterday, and there was a double-decker sitting at my bus stop. I squeed. I jumped on. I climbed up to the second floor, got myself a window seat, put some English rock music on my iPod, and was completely dorked out for the entire ride home.
The world even looks a bit different when you're driving around town from that high up.
It was a bit of a moment for me.
Let me take this moment to reiterate how much I hope to God I can pull off my London trip next summer. I'm very slowly working through the paperwork. And I need to get done, like, now. But I really want to make it happen. I wrote my saving budget up today. To be implemented starting Monday. Hopefully it'll work!
