Okay, for awhile I was not posting because I'm intimidated by technology and felt that I should be actually doing work at my job. But I think it's officially time to stop caring about my job. Yesterday we had "employee appreciation day". But the planners didn't actually remember to tell anyone. So I went with a few friends to grab lunch. After we came back, around 2:30 a receptionist came to our room to give us gift cards to Wawa. She told us about our day of appreciation. She explained that there had been a big lunch for everyone and said "Most people knew about it, but I guess the news didn't reach you in time. Anyway, you can go and get some leftover chips." At least 12 people never were told about the lunch. It was well intentioned, but at the same time offensively incompetent. That describes most of the morale building activities at my office. Last year the "ice cream social" was a friendly way to announce that our cost of living raises were being delayed. Anyway, after three years of waiting, I'm going to go and sign up for summer classes this afternoon. It couldn't come at a better time.
