A Poem

I'm bored at work and have ventured back into old blogs of mine I could've sworn were deleted.  I found this little gem I wrote for my creative writing class at GCC circa 2003.  All I can remember is that it's in Iambic Pentameter.

"Love Lost"

The moon and stars so brightly shine tonight.
Our roses still in bloom this day as well.
Low light on you has such a gorgeous sight,
But please, release me from this awful hell.
You stalk the halls as snakes slither to prey,
And speak so softly wind cannot compare.
Your eyes, a shade of green, are cold as jade,
Insisting, “Love like ours is almost rare.”
I wake and cringe the dawn of each sunrise,
And curse my crimson heart for beating still.
Another day I’ll hear your foolish lies,
To only swoon, and trusting them, I will.
How often I recall when we first met.
Naïve of life I never did expect.
