HP Flexicon: Current Topic
I just visited the Flexicon because it had been a while. Looks like it's been a while since any of you visited, either, so this is a nudge. The current topic is Sports; the one before this was Medi-magic. It's not too late to contribute to any of the topic threads. You are equally welcome to contribute ideas of your own or to post memorable ideas you've found in fic by other authors. The flexicon is a project designed to create a resource for HP fanfiction like the HP Lexicon's encyclopedic information about the canonical HP universe.
Highlights of the current call for contributions:
[TOPIC] Sports and Games
Apart from Exploding Snap and Wizards Chess, Quidditch appears to reign supreme for sporting activity in the Wizarding World. What else do magical folk do with their leisure time? Do they play altered versions of muggle sports and games? How do people keep fit?
Fanon ideas we're looking for include things like:
- References to sports (outdoors and indoors), either invented or a twist on muggle versions
- Adult games - card games, board games, party games... again, either "wizarding" or different from the muggle versions in some way.
- Childrens games, same deal as the above
- Clever explanations for the lack of sports besides Quidditch in canon
- Observations on social class as relates to leisure activities
- NOT fanon additions to what we know about Quidditch (possibly for another post)
... and anything else you might think of! Remember, they don't have to be the focus of the story--passing references are fine as well!
