{open} Goin' on down the road
He was just a little frustrated. Usually he pursued a vision to his fullest. On a normal day he would have hopped a plane the minute David had hung up on him and he would have arrived in Chicago a few hours later. What would have followed would be a stakeout as well as a glued to the hip-type scenario where David would never leave his sight.
But something was off. Ford didn't care. David could have been killed by an army and he wouldn't have flinched. There had been other cases where he had opened up the paper and read about a person's death that he could have prevented. In theory he could prevent them all -- but that would have been a lot of visions.
Seeing as he wasn't boarding a plane any time soon he decided to do the next best thing. Packing a few things only took about an hour. He changed his voice-mail, took a shower, set the alarm and threw everything in the back of his car.
Honestly, he was going to point to a place on the map and drive there but he couldn't find a map. So, he moved for the next best thing. A few clicks of the laptop and he was on his way to Costa Verde, not too far from San Francisco he thought. But if it was he could care less. He just wanted to drive.
A few hours later he pulled off the highway, the wind in his perfectly gelled hair, before heading into a more residential area. Deciding he was hungry he made a sudden turn into the nearest mall grabbing a space close to the entrance. Being sure to switch his belongings into the trunk he locked his car and headed inside.
The food court wasn't hard to find and he definitely had his choice of food establishments ranging from Panda Express to McDonalds. He settled on Boardwalk Fries and ordered a hot dog with the largest fry order they had and settled a few tables away. He wasn't one of those afraid to sit by himself. He loved food whether he was with someone or not. But he made sure to look inviting, just in case.
He was hungry, though and dug in right away.
