[If anyone is passing by and can see Yuuka's backyard garden today...they will bear witness to something quite odd. Yuuka is merely sitting on her back porch...and the laughter and giggles from a drone daughter of about 7 or 8 years old can be heard lilting through her garden. This drone daughter is the one who has been in the household since she ( Read more... )

Oh, who's this boy who assumes he's welcome wherever he wishes?

Just a passerby. I won't bother you, I promise.

Hmm...it seems you know how to behave.

How rare, in a place like this.

Wouldn't it be a waste to be completely contrary with a stranger? You never know when you might find yourself on the wrong end of a blade with that same person so good first impressions are always required.

[Yuuka seems pretty satisfied with that. Good manners are the quickest way to her good side, after all.]

I am Yuuka Kazami. And you are?

Merem Solomon, Miss Kazami.

It's nice to meet such a well-mannered human.

[Yuuka has barely looked at Solomon, and is now distracted with the drone child running up to her with a rather large sunflower she'd picked clutched in her hand. It's far taller than she is.]

"Look mommy! I found the best one! Golly, they're big!" [The drone child stops to wave at Merem, as if noticing him for the first time through her excitement.]

[Merem just gives the kid a smile.]

I'm no human. Or should I say, I'm normally not a human.

[Speaking to the drone child.]

That's nice dear. Set it down and I'll put it in some water for your room.

[The drone child then carefully lays her sunflower down on the grass and eagerly runs back into the garden, hellbent on finding what other kinds of flowers are hidden within. Yuuka then returns her attention to Merem.]

I see. That would explain the apparent wisdom. And here I thought humans were capable of learning their place.

An interesting lot, humans are.

They can be, when they aren't overstepping their bounds.

Though it seems the humans outside of Gensokyo are quite a bit more interesting.

That's the thing about humans. They live to continue stepping forward. I doubt boundaries really exist for them.

[Yuuka seems to think about that for a long moment.]

That is an interesting way of looking at it.

However there are still places where a human should not tread.

Not that they would agree with you on that.

Oh of course not.

Is is the curse of being human...that a human will not listen to the advice of someone older and wiser than they.
