Hey, Hiro! Yoohoo! Did you guys still want to go do some shopping and stuff? I kinda forgot about it with all that commotion, but I'm still up for it if you are

Oh, it's not as hard as it sounds. If it's one of the regular brands, a USB cord probably came with it. Plug the small end into the mp3 player, and the big end into one of your computer's USB ports. They're probably on the side if you're on a laptop, and on the front if you're using a desktop. Assuming you're using Windows, an empty folder should pop up. Just copy all the music you want to put on there from wherever you have it saved, and paste it into that folder. Easy, right?

Ohhhh. No computers in your world, huh? [Atsuro pities him so very much, but he's determined to give a rudimentary explanation nonetheless.]
Well... basically, you can record sounds, and there are machines that will turn those sounds into data that a computer can read. When the computer reads the data, it turns it back into the sound and plays it for you. You can move that data from your computer to an mp3 player, which is basically a smaller computer that only plays music.

Well, it might not sound like the most useful thing in the world, but it's really handy to have when you're bored. I know lots of people who bring theirs everywhere just so they can listen to music when they don't have anything else to do. There are ones that can do more than just play music, but if all you want it to do is play music, you can get a cheaper one.

Not everyone knows how to play music, it's kind of inconvenient to lug a musical instrument around, and it would be kind of unfair to play loud music in a place with a bunch of other people who might not like it around. It's... not so much an activity in itself as a way to pass the time when you're waiting for something. At least for most people.

...I think you lost me somewhere between "regular brand" and "USB cord."

Why would someone develop a small machine that would only play music? It sounds useless.

If you're bored, why wouldn't you play music yourself? [Or do something constructive, for that matter. But he's not gonna say that.]
