Well this has been a long-delayed update to be sure; however, I drove today for the very first time with Maud (a.k.a Mum) in three parking-lots, with the promise of quiet roads on the weekend!
I reckon Maud was overly paranoid before we'd even begun, but since I obtained my learners after having taken the computerized exa on Monday, I ascertained that if the theoretical questions were so simple, the application must be gravy... which it was, and extremely fun. I can't wait to try a highway -- ho-yeah!
It's really quite enjoyable, and I even collated a new mixed CD for driving to celebrate after we went out to dinner. It's about time I got behind the wheel as it is, even though I have no hankering for an automobile of my own (maybe a green motorbike someday), but I'd rather save up my pennies for a hybrid, which are sadistically pricey.
I've booked a professional lesson with a local instructor next Thursday, which was a great stroke of luck as someone had cancelled at the last minute, otherwise I would've had to wait until the middle of July! Whaaghs! There's this graduating program I'm coerced into averring to, whereby within the year, I have to recieve some odd number of lessons in order to receive my qualifying "N" as a new driver under probation at the culmination of nine months approx. (it's like my first exposure to baby-incubation, if we're to personify the car in an infantile form instead of just a woman ;); if I choose not to pay people to boss me around behind the wheel (bahahaha, even with just cause), then it's two years waiting period before I'm permitted to take my practical road test.
Blaghs, I can still drive all I like, just as long as there's someone with a valid licence with me at all times. It's just like steering more imposing, sturdy go-carts!
In other news, I've requested a prospectus from Bristol University to get things finally underway, not to mention having to retake a passport photo as the ones I bought from London Drugs look abysmal -- why do they hire people who can't take photos and yet work in the photo department? One of life's age old quandaries to be sure.
