I agree with you completely, there's probably a triangle relationship going on, although Preston probably wasn't aware of it until it was too late and both Partridge and Mary had died... Glad you liked it!

I love it--it's perfectly believable, and Partridge seems kind of stunned... more because of the unfamiliar feelings he's suddenly experiencing, than because of the wound. The way he looks at Preston's hand! He still doesn't know what's happening to him, poor Cleric... but we do. *eg* And it's great! The whole fic is. *hugs you* *more* :)

To me the fic feels rushed (am such a slooooow writer), but I'm glad the stunned feeling of Partridge came across even so. And yes, Preston's hand.
