Notes: For the contrelamontre 'world at it's knees' challenge. I was originally writing a CSI Cath/Sara story for this but I got to 48 mins and realized there was no way I could have it done in time, so I tapped this out in 15 mins. I don't know if it works or not and readily admit that it needs a lot more work, but oh well.

You bathe her face with light kisses, cursing the tears that salt her skin and break your heart. You want nothing more than to erase her pain and feel her smile against your lips, but instead you can only hold on as she shudders in your arms.
You shouldn't be doing this, shouldn't be easing your hand under her blouse, shouldn't let her push you deeper into the couch. There are any number of reasons why this is wrong, but you push them away, just as you try to burry your own pain in favor of easing hers.
It's a familiar dance as clothing is removed and flesh revealed, you've done this before, although it's been many years since the last time, when another man broke her heart and you were there to pick up the pieces.
As you trace your hands down her torso your fingers delight in the play of strong muscles under smooth skin even as your heart cries out at her muted sobs. The jagged outline of an old wound you helped to patch up calls forth memories of days long past. And with them comes a deep longing for a time when every day was filled with excitement and danger. For a time before life was dulled by utopia and the world brought to its knees by the promise of forever.
You bite back a sob and slide down her body as the bittersweet memories assail you. Sam's pleasured gasp calls you back from the past and you trace your hands over her thighs. You lower your mouth to her and try to lose yourself in her pleasure, but as her muscles pulse around you you're reminded of the cause of her tears and your heart breaks again.
