Java troubles

In an attempt to finish writing our homework for programming, miccie and I went to the help center to figure out why the GUI our professor included didn't seem to be working. We called T-Shirt Guy over to help us figure it out. After half an hour of torturous work with the Eclipse debugger and the course-specific classes that supposedly work, T-Shirt Guy concluded that there was something wrong that wasn't in our code and advised us to keep writing the code assuming that one component would work. We haven't conclusively found whether it is our fault or the professor's fault or no one's fault, but given how unsolvable it seems for now, it feels like we've just lost a day of work time.

I told miccie that I wanted to complain about this frustration in an immature fashion, so here I am.

eta After finding that the program runs on a PC, we decided that the professor was right that we should not leap out of a 6th floor window. He suggested a 1st floor window instead; just to hurt our ankles a bit, you know.
