why oh why do people live in the suburbs? especially the suburbs of indianapolis. that shit just seems sooo boring to me.

Well, there are a few reasons. Mary and I in the suburbs right now because it's closer to where we both work. I hate it so much, though, that I'm willing to get up earlier in the morning and pay more for gas just to live somewhere that actually has sidewalks.

A lot of people do because they have a misconception that it's safer than the "inner city" - which may or may not be the case. I think there's just as much crime and illegal behavior in the suburbs, it's just more hidden. At least in the hood it's out in the open - when there's a domestic dispute at your next-door neighbor's house, you're sure as hell going to know about it. Suburbanites will hide their shit as much as they can because they're so terrified of tarnishing their image.

There are some practical reasons too, though - like better schools. That's understandable. There are also a lot of opportunities to get relatively new housing that is actually affordable.

It's only taken me a year to realize that living in suburbia kind of makes me want to die.

you got some good points there about all of that. i think i was mainly referring to the folks who live up there because of there misconception about the inner city. or who try to run/escape from social ills that they are as much a part of as people living in the city. like you said they just hid it better.

sorry that suburbia makes u feel that way. move back to the city, it's a bit more bare-able. maybe its just indianapolis that makes ppl want to die! haha
