Dear Friends: Thanksgiving is approaching

Mar 24, 2006 20:45

"If thanksgiving is coming to your town on his current tour, GO! I saw them in berkeley on friday and it was totally amazing. He had a nine piece band complete with horns and wee shakey things. I never thought I'd be dancing at a Thanksgiving show, but there it was! His new songs are great as well. They sound more his own than the stuff on welcome nowhere / thanksgiving. They almost sort of reminded me of Broken Social Scene, in a way, only with Adrian's distinctive lyrics.

The openers were awesome as well. Privacy in particular was captivating. She has the coolest voice I've ever heard. And the watery graves are the watery graves are the watery graves. They rock.

Yep. Go!"

Hey friends, so I set up this show at the Courtyard Cafe on April 7.
And it would be really cool if you all went, and brought all your friends...it should be amazing.
These four bands are from Portland, Oregon, and they are all on Marriage Records.
If you like Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy/etc. you will like Thanksgiving even more!

Friday, April 7
8 pm
Adrian Orange and the Thanksgiving Band (aka Thanksgiving)
The Watery Graves of Portland
a john henry memorial
Privacy
$4 for students

Hope to see you there!
