[ he tilts his head at Gintoki, studying his emotions. Did his smile just falter? Did he do something wrong - a slight lip chewing is enough to broadcast his worry. ]
I know I'm a good boy! I do all my homework, listen to my parents, and watch after my si -- WH-WHAT?! L-lady killer? I don't want to kill anyone! Especially not a lady!

[ Ruffles Hei's hair affectionately, and starts to walk, beckoning him to follow. ]

[ Easily reassured, Hei shoots back his own beaming smile. He knows this man will surely protect him. ]
...Ew! Ladies are yucky though --- except my sister, of course.
[ Starts to follow, however stops mid-step to stare at Gintoki with a longing sort of look in his eyes. He doesn't want to be a baby, but honestly, he is quite scared. ]

[ The small steps behind him stop and he looks over his shoulder, catches the look in the boy's eyes, and his smile softens. He always did have a weak spot for kids. He sighs and rubs his opposite shoulder noncommittally, then kneels down on the ground ]
C'mon then kiddo, just please don't kick me in the face on the way up.
