Synopsis: “Do you like bubbles, Toshi?” The little boy nodded and pulled his hands apart to clap, sending bubbles flying. “Maybe some day I’ll show you how to blow bubbles with your hands.” The blonde beamed and instructed Toshi to wash his hands off. Once done, Toshi was standing and Uruha was drying his hands with a towel. Motherly; that’s what Uruha was. It made so much sense! He was pretty and cute like a girl, and he was really nice. Uruha was like a mommy. He could be Toshi’s mommy, since he didn’t really have one.
Comment: At the end.
“Here, Yutaka~” Toshi squatted down next to the food bowl he had just put on the floor. He wiggled his fingers to get the dog’s attention and giggled when the dog ran over to him excitedly. Taking care of a puppy was a piece of pie since Yutaka was such a nice puppy. He wasn’t like most dogs who barked and ran around making messes; Yutaka was a quiet dog, and as excited as he was, he didn’t do very much. He didn’t even like to play with the toys Aoi had bought for him. Yutaka would just look at them and turn around as if he never knew they were there in the first place.
After patting the puppy on the head, Toshi stood up and ran into the kitchen where Aoi was standing over the stove making dinner. Now that Yutaka was fully settled in, it was time for him to get started on dinner since Toshi was too excited to eat breakfast or lunch; he claimed he couldn’t eat before going to the pet store because all the puppies would try to eat him, and he didn’t want to be ‘eated‘. Aoi didn’t feel like arguing and promised he’d make Toshi’s favorite of fried chicken for dinner.
“Eaties?”
The older man smirked and shook his head, “Not yet. Why don’t you go clean up the living room and give Yutaka some water?” The living room was a bit of a mess since Toshi decided he and Kai-chan needed to have a ‘party’ with Yutaka. By party, that meant Toshi had dragged his little CD player out of his room and sat it on the coffee table even though Aoi already had a CD player sitting on the entertainment system. Toshi claimed it didn’t play music like his. For a good hour, Arashi was blaring from the living room, and Toshi and Yutaka were running around the room and jumping on the furniture. Toshi even decided he’d imitate Ruki and got a cup full of ‘alkiehols’, which was really just grape juice, and decided he’d sway all over and fall on his face.
Toshi ran off to get Yutaka’s water bowl while Aoi continued to cook. He wasn’t too sure how he felt about having a pet named after his drummer. Kai-chan was one thing because it was just a toy and had nothing to do with him, but a puppy was another thing. The amount of times Toshi amusedly yelled ‘Yutaka went potties’ only made it worse, but he couldn’t tell his little brother to rename the dog unless he wanted a lecture he could hardly understand in the first place. He couldn’t quite understand Toshi’s obsession with naming everything after the drummer. Despite what Toshi had said to Ruki earlier, Aoi was sure his brother had some form of a crush on Kai even if it wasn’t to an extreme like his crush on Reita.
“Oniisan, I’s no reachies wader.” Toshi tugged at Aoi’s pants leg with a pout. How was he supposed to do what he was told if he wasn’t tall enough? Even if he stood on a chair he couldn’t reach the faucet!
Aoi chuckled and bent down to pick up his brother. Telling him to get the water was a bad idea, and he hadn’t really thought too much about it. He turned on the faucet and waited for the water to get cold before leaning over and letting Toshi hold the bowl out, but just in case, Aoi kept a hand on one side so Toshi wouldn’t drop it into the sink. Once the bowl was full, he put his brother on the floor and stood over the stove again.
“Thank you~”
“You’re welcome. Make sure you don’t spill it.” He smiled down at the nodding little boy. There was huge chance that Toshi would spill it, but even if he did, it wouldn’t be a problem. Water on the carpet wasn’t anything serious. If it had been grape juice, then it would have been a problem. But by telling Toshi not to spill it, he’d probably get really nervous and upset if he did spill some.
Aoi shrugged and decided it was too late to tell Toshi was alright if he did spill it because Toshi had already waddled off to the other room. He jumped slightly when his phone began vibrating in his pocket and quickly fished it out, wondering who in the hell would be calling him. Technically, he wasn’t in a good enough mood to be talking on the phone with anyone, including his friends. The previous night had been pretty restless, and his stupid little argument with Uruha didn’t make his mood any better, although he knew he’d eventually have to apologize to him before the blonde got any more mad over nothing.
To his dismay, it was the one person he definitely didn’t want to talk to. He sighed heavily and put his phone down on the counter. The last person he wanted to talk to was Uruha right now. All he wanted to do was finish cooking, feed his brother, give Toshi a bath, and put him to bed. He didn’t want to sit around and argue with his lover over something so stupid and pointless.
The phone continued to ring as he turned off the stove and yelled for Toshi to go take his place at the table. He made two plates and put his phone back in his pocket before going to the dining room. Toshi was already sitting at the table with his legs dangling from the chair and his feet wiggling around. He giggled loudly as the puppy licked his feet and jumped around.
“Yutaka.” Aoi snapped his fingers and the puppy ran out from under the table and sat in front of him. He smirked and nodded his head toward the living room, “Go lie down.” The dog ran off to the other room. “Thank God that thing doesn’t need trained.” He muttered under his breath and sat down.
“Oniisan, who calleded?” Toshi took a bite of his chicken and smiled sweetly. He loved chicken; it was the only food other than spaghetti that he could eat every day and never complain. Whenever Aoi didn’t know what to make, he always made one or the other so his brother didn’t throw a fit.
“Uruha.” The older man shrugged and began eating. Toshi put his food down and put his hands on his hips with a scowl on his face.
“Oniisan!” The little boy snapped angrily, “You’s aspossed to call Mommy!” He pursed his lips and held out his little hand. “Givies you’s phonie~”
Aoi shook his head, “You’re not getting my phone. Now eat your food.” Toshi pouted and rolled his eyes as he continued to eat. Aoi didn’t know it, but he was going to get Uruha to come over some how. All he had to do was figure what Uruha’s number was and how to call him.
A grin stretched across Toshi’s lips; next to the phone sitting on the table was a pad of paper that Aoi used to write down things Kai needed him to remember. It also had all the member’s phone numbers written on the cover just in case there was an emergency. As soon as Aoi had his back turned, he was totally going to call Uruha, and then he would come over, and then Uruha could play with Yutaka! It was the perfect plan.
Dinner passed without any problems, and soon Aoi was standing over the sink washing the dishes while Toshi ran around the living room with the phone in his hand and Yutaka chasing him. The little boy grinned when he heard ringing and a sigh.
“Hello?” Uruha sounded really annoyed and pissed off, but Toshi only giggled.
“Mommy! You’s comeies and pway wiff Yutaka?” Toshi stopped running. The suddenness of his movements caught the puppy off guard and caused him to run right into the back of Toshi’s legs. The little boy gasped and bent down to pet the puppy. “You’s okie dokies, Yutaka?” He picked the puppy up and sat it on the couch before he shimmed up there himself.
Uruha chuckled on the other end, “I’m still mad at your brother. He wouldn’t answer the phone.”
“Oniisan was makie dinner~” Toshi chirped happily as the dog crawled onto his lap and walked in a circle before sitting down.
“Where is he now?”
Toshi tilted his head from side to side and kicked his little legs, “Cweaning dishies~” He began twirling a piece of hair around his index finger as he spoke.
“Don’t tell him I’m coming over, okay? I’ll let myself in.”
Toshi giggled, “You’s tell Oniisan you’s lo~ve him~?” he erupted into laughter, snorting and squealing.
“Oh be quiet.” Uruha chuckled, “Now you better hang up the phone before Oniisan catches you.”
“Okie dokies~!” Toshi hit the end button and put the phone back on the table where it was before. Uruha, on the other hand, pulled his phone away from his ear and shook his head. Toshi never said bye before hanging up the phone.
---
Aoi put the last plate in the cabinet and folded his dishtowel, placing it on the counter. “Toshi, time to take a bath!” When he walked into the living room, he found Toshi sitting on the couch with an innocent smile stretched across his face. There was something off about that smile as the little boy kicked his feet and rested his arm on the arm of the couch. Aoi didn’t even want to know what he had done; it was getting late and he really didn’t want to do anything other than go to bed for the night.
“Okie dokies, Oniisan!” Toshi patted Yutaka so he’d move and hopped off the couch. There was a bounce to his walk and giggles escaping him. Aoi slightly wanted to know what was going on; slightly.
Surprisingly, Toshi’s bath went by without the typical problems of the little boy not wanting to get in the water. He allowed Aoi to help him get clean and didn’t complain when Aoi put a towel around him; usually Toshi would squeal and streak through the house just to make his brother mad. Toshi giggled and put on his footed pajamas and zipped up the front. He was lifted up to the sink so Aoi could help him brush his teeth and hair, and soon he was carried off to his room and put in bed with the covers pulled up to his chin.
“Nighties, Oniisan.” Toshi yawned into Kai-chan’s fur and closed his eyes. A kiss was placed on his forehead before Aoi was walking toward the door.
“Goodnight, Toshi.” He closed the door halfway, walking down the hall to his room. Now that the day was over, Yutaka had enough food in his food bowl, Toshi was in bed, and he had nothing left to really do, it was time for a shower.
He sighed as the water washed over him, soaking him completely. After a long day, a nice shower was just what he needed. All the arguing and chasing after Toshi and Yutaka was tiring. He couldn’t wait to go to sleep, but that also meant he had to get up in the morning and think of what he should say to Uruha otherwise rehearsals would just be a mess.
Their relationship --as much Aoi hated to admit it-- was nothing like it used to be. He didn’t feel as close to Uruha as he used to. They used to go out almost every night. In the beginning, Aoi felt as if he were some lame school girl, and he never felt that way before. Every time the blonde would call, he’d feel giddy and try to answer the phone without his voice shaking. He felt like such a damn girl, but Uruha was nothing like his former boyfriends. They were so average in every way; they were so cliché and boring. While they took Aoi to the movies for their first date, Uruha decided they needed to ‘live life on the edge’ by sky diving.
Uruha was so unique; he was feminine but he was still a man, and he proved it. He knew when to turn off his girlish-charm, and Aoi preferred it when Uruha showed off his manliness. Back then, Uruha was so romantic and caught Aoi off-guard. There were times when they would leave work at the same time, yet Uruha always managed to beat Aoi home and set up the house and began making dinner, which at that time didn’t taste too great. Aoi looked forward to whatever his lover had up his sleeve because even if the blonde did something as small as give him a box of chocolates, it was the thought and the way Uruha gave it to him that mattered.
But then everything changed the day Kaeda showed up unexpectedly. It was too strange for them to carry on their relationship as they had before. Aoi had a responsibility, and even though Uruha wanted to spend all his nights with Aoi, he couldn’t. Aoi was too busy trying to take care of a baby, which proved to be difficult for him since he had no experience whatsoever. Uruha helped as much as he could until work got more complicated and the band spent more time recording and rehearsing. Kai’s rehearsals weren’t easy, and Uruha was always too worn out to even think of anything other than going to sleep. Of course the thought of Aoi staying up with a baby crossed his mind, but that was Aoi’s problem and Uruha didn’t have any experience either. Aoi always had to balance work with attending to Toshi, and it wasn’t easy to any extent.
Taking care of a child definitely put a strain on their relationship, but Aoi never regretted his decision of raising his brother. Although he missed the way their relation used to be, he wouldn’t trade Toshi for anything.
Aoi sighed heavily and stepped out of the shower. He put a towel around his waist and walked into his room. Tomorrow would be busy; they had to rehearse, but it wasn’t just any rehearsals. They had a series of lives coming up; he wasn’t looking forward to it because he knew he wouldn’t get much rest.
“You really shouldn’t ignore me.”
Aoi jumped as arms circled around his waist. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath; now he knew exactly why Toshi had been doing everything he was told and giggling. Toshi knew Uruha was coming over. He made a mental note to talk to Toshi about playing with the phone; Toshi knew better than to call people or answer the phone without Aoi’s permission.
“What do you think you’re doing?” There was a glare on Aoi’s face as he spoke and attempted to pry away Uruha’s wandering hands. He wasn’t ready to talk to him just yet, hence the reason he didn’t answer the phone earlier.
Uruha chuckled. Of course he knew Aoi was still mad at him. He knew Aoi better than anyone, and he knew that Aoi didn’t answer the phone because he was ignoring him and not because he was making dinner. It didn’t matter how much the older man tried, he couldn’t ignore his lover. They worked together, they saw each other on a daily basis, and they had keys to each other’s homes. Uruha could force Aoi to talk to him whenever he wanted.
The older man turned around, his hands pressing against Uruha’s shoulders. “Would you answer me?” A smirk stretched across Uruha’s face before it was replaced with an innocent smile that Aoi knew better than to trust because it always meant the blonde was going to do something or at least attempt to. “Don’t you even think about-”
“Toshi’s out cold. He didn’t even wake up with Yutaka sat there licking his face.” The blonde shrugged, pushing Aoi backwards, much to his dismay. He knew exactly what could make up for their argument, and oddly enough it was the same thing that could make up for Aoi ignoring him. How ironic.
“Uruha-”
Uruha held a finger against Aoi’s lips and shook his head. “Not another word, Aoi-chan.” He tsked as Aoi fell against the bed with a gasp. Uruha smiled sheepishly, but it quickly turned into a glare when Aoi moved to sit up.
“But Uruha, we can’t do this tonight.” Aoi whined, letting Uruha shove him back down and straddle his hips even though he really wasn’t in the mood for anything. “We have-”
“Unlike you, I can function after a night of responsibility and rough sex.” Uruha smirked and Aoi slapped him.
“How the hell would you know?! We never had sex after you had to take care of a child.” Aoi raised an eyebrow as Uruha waved his hand in the air with a roll of his eyes.
“Not important, now shut up.”
“I’m not bottoming to you.”
Uruha growled as he was flipped over. Aoi hovered over him with a cocky grin, leaning down to press their lips together. Inwardly, Uruha giggled; whether Aoi liked it or not, he was going to bottom. Uruha didn’t come over to get it up the ass like last time. He’d play Aoi’s little games and let him think he’d be getting his way, but there was no way in hell it’d end in his favor.
Aoi should have known by that point in the game that Uruha got what he wanted. In the beginning, and even before, Uruha was strictly seme. Unfortunately, Aoi was as well (and Uruha thought it was weird by how giggly Aoi always seemed around him), which made it difficult since they were constantly arguing over who got to top. After an agreement that Uruha had no choice but to agree to (to save himself the agony of listening to Aoi bitch like a PMSing woman), they settled on alternating positions, but Aoi didn’t like to play fair and often cheated.
Hands slid up Aoi’s damp arms as their mouths moved against one another sloppily. Uruha moaned softly, shifting his body so Aoi was pressed against him. A smirk made it’s way to his face when his hands slid up to tangle themselves in Aoi’s wet hair, and without warning, he pulled as hard as he could just to see what the older man would do, knowing how much Aoi hated it when he caught him off guard like that.
“You son of a bit-”
“ONIISAN!”
Aoi held himself up by his elbows and bowed his head, his forehead resting against Uruha’s shoulder as the blonde shook with suppressed laughter. “I swear, we are never going to get to-”
“ONII~SAN~!”
With a pout, Aoi stood up to get dressed. As much as he loved Toshi, he wanted to lock him in the closet with headphones on so he couldn’t hear anything. The last time he and Uruha had been together was months ago, and even that had to be quick because he was paranoid that Toshi would just come barging into his room since the child had an obsession with doing that at odd hours of the night.
Toshi screamed on the top of his lungs and cried loudly. “I’ll get him.” Uruha jumped up from the bed and left the room, and Aoi let him. It wasn’t like Toshi didn’t know he was there since he so nicely kept it a secret that he had called the blonde in the first place.
Aoi finished getting dressed and sat on the bed so his back was propped up against the headboard and his legs were bent at the knees. He rubbed his face with both hands and sighed. Toshi was still crying even as Uruha brought him into the room and sat him on the bed.
“Oniisan.” Toshi sniffled and held out his arms toward his brother who suppressed another sigh and leaned over to pick him up and place him on his stomach. The little boy wrapped his arms around Aoi’s neck and pulled a thumb into his mouth and blinked.
“What’s wrong, Toshi?” Aoi rubbed the boy's back and looked over at the blonde who was settling next to him. Toshi shifted slightly and tightened his grip on the older man.
“I’s had a nightiemares.” Toshi pulled away and sat with his back against Aoi’s legs. He wiped his eyes with the back of his free hand and sniffled again. “You’s beaties the monsters?” He blinked up at his brother with big glassy eyes and tilted his head to the side. Aoi was the only person who could beat up an evil monster for him. Aoi was strong and he knew how to fight, but Toshi only knew that because of all the fake fights between Aoi and the other members of the band out of boredom, which usually ended with four men lying on the ground cursing and moaning and calling Aoi a 'cheating whoremonger', which as Aoi pointed out, had nothing to do with him beating them all up within minutes.
Aoi smirked, “Tell me about these monsters, and maybe I can beat them up for you. Y’know, I need to know what they’re like so I know what I’m getting myself into.” He tapped Toshi on the nose and watched as the boy scrunched up his face in annoyance. Whatever Toshi had dreamt about had to be ridiculous because the things Toshi found scary usually weren’t scary at all. But that was children, Aoi assumed; they always made things seem scarier and worse than they actually were.
“I’s was pwaying wiff Kai-chan in the kitchie ‘cause Kai was makie cookies~ and we’s wanted some. And then, THEN," Toshi leaned forward and raised his voice to get the two men's attention just in case they weren't actually listening, which Toshi was sure Uruha wasn't doing, "Kai turneded into a big~ monster ‘cause he no Kai at alls!" He raised his arms to put emphasis on how big the monster was. "He was a big~ monster wiff” Toshi stopped and held up his fingers muttering “one… seven… fifty…” on his fingers and pouting.
“With… what?” Uruha covered his mouth to hide his smile because clearly Toshi was upset with his dream and how ‘scary’ it was.
“Wiff sixity-lebens eyeballies and a HUGE mouf!” Toshi nodded matter-of-factly. “And he sayed he was going to eaties me. He maded a milkieshake wiff me in it, Oniisan! I’s no wanna be milkieshake.” He shook his head and pouted.
Aoi looked over at Uruha and raised his eyebrows. That was scary? A Kai monster with sixity-lebens eyeballies making a Toshi milkshake? “Piece of pie, and just to make sure Kai isn’t really a monster, I’ll beat him up tomorrow for being one in your dream. Y’know, just to make sure a monster doesn’t really pop out of him during the day, and if one even thinks about it, they’ll know I’ll beat them up extra hard.” He winked and patted the little boy on the head. Toshi giggled around his thumb and yawned.
“Toshi?” Uruha rested his head on Aoi’s shoulder with a giggle, “What is your obsession with Kai?” He raised an eyebrow when Toshi covered his mouth and giggled loudly. There had to be some reason for Toshi to name everything after the drummer and dream about him. It wasn’t normal. Toshi ‘loved’ Reita, but he never named anything after him nor did he have dreams about him. Uruha was almost positive that Toshi had a crush on the drummer.
Toshi leaned over and put his hand on Uruha’s cheek, leaning over his ear to whisper because it was super secret as to why he named everything after Kai. “Kai-san is Daddy!” He leaned back against Aoi’s legs and tilted his head from side to side with his fingers in his mouth. Yes, Kai-san was Daddy. It made so much sense! Kai was the leader of the band, which meant he was the most responsible. He always told the members what to do, and he even punished them if they didn’t do as they were told (in other words, Ruki got in trouble a lot for being mean or touching Reita). Dads did that sort of thing all the time! So that meant Kai was the daddy of the band, and that also meant he could be Toshi’s daddy since he didn’t remember what his even looked like.
Uruha cackled, covering his mouth and snorting. Somehow that wasn’t surprising at all. Kai was kind of like a father figure to the band, except they personally thought of him more as a mother since he baked all the time and constantly fretted over their wellbeing. “And what makes you think that?” He asked, just to hear what the little boy was going to say, and it had to be good since Toshi’s imagination and outlook on everything was anything but normal.
Toshi held up a finger, “Kai-san telleds you’s what’s to do, and he pumishmis RuRu, and he al~ways~ makies cuppycakies for birfiedays!” He nodded matter-of-factly, sucking on his fingers and smiling sweetly. He sat up and wrapped his arms around Aoi’s neck and yawned softly.
“Are you sleeping with Oniisan tonight?” Aoi ran his fingers through Toshi’s slightly wavy hair and sighed. Wouldn’t it be a bit awkward for the three of them to sleep together? Well, it couldn’t be any different than sharing a room with Uruha during a tour and letting Toshi sleep with them, right?
“Mhm~” Toshi closed his eyes and allowed himself to be placed between the two men. Uruha pulled the covers up to his chin and kissed him on the forehead before Aoi did the same. The light was turned off and soon it was quiet. Toshi opened his eyes and sat up with a pout. “MOMMY!”
“What?” Uruha watched as Toshi put his hands on his hips.
Toshi turned around and pointed at his brother, “You’s has to kissie Oniisan!”
A/N: You thought there was going to be smut, huh? *snorts* Considering the story is centered around Toshi, there wasn't. I don't want my cute Toshi story to be full of sex
There wasn't a lot that happened in this story, but as soon as the band starts playing lives, there should be more going on. I have an idea up my sleeve that I've been thinking about since I started this story, so I hope it'll work out in the end. :)
Leave a comment and let me know what you think! Later today (depending on how the days go) I may be posting a one-shot similar to this but not related. It's Reita/Ruki for those of you who've been wanting me to write that pairing more. I'm pretty excited to write it, so I'm going to spend the rest of today working on it. ^^
