Chapter: 20/?
Synopsis: Neither one, Kouyou or Yuu really remembered them, but Shinji and Naoyuki still kept an eye on them when they had nothing else to do. Kouyou had lost his fairies when he turned ten because he no longer needed his magical fairies to help him. In other words, he had gotten too old and they had to be assigned to another child. The most they could do for Kouyou was watch him from afar and use limited magic to help him, but only in situations when he was in danger. He wasn’t in danger too often --at least not since Takashi’s memory was erased so he didn’t remember how he managed to break his arm, and Kouyou had no idea either'.
Kouyou bit his lip, walking around in circles in his room. Originally, he and Yuu wanted to spend the night together, but Kouyou had a lot of thinking to do. If he wanted to get married to Yuu, which he really really did, he would have to prove just how much he loved him. There was no problem with thinking of how to prove it because he already knew. What he didn’t know was how to do it. Didn’t Yuu say he couldn’t have help, or was he just talking about coming up with the idea? Either way, Kouyou couldn’t figure out a way to prove his love in the way he wanted without getting help.
That was exactly why Naoyuki was sitting on his bed with a look of confusion. All Kouyou had done was say “I wish Naoyuki was here” and the fairy appeared.
“So what do you need me for, or are you just feeling lost without me?” The fairy stood up to nudge the pacing boy in the side with his elbow. “I know life is difficult without your favorite fairy around, so it’s alright if you randomly need me…”
“Make yourself look completely normal. No wings.” Kouyou suddenly stopped pacing. “Lets go outside where it’s nicer so I can talk to you.” The fairy shrugged his shoulders a couple of times in a comical manner until his wings disappeared.
“What was that?” Kouyou deadpanned, giving the fairy a look of complete confusion.
“What? Do you know how hard it is for fairies to get their wings to disappear with magic? Because I don’t like to wave a wand all the time like the typical fairy. I can also shrug and my wings will just go away.” The fairy waved his hand around as if to put emphasis on his words.
Kouyou shook his head and led the fairy out of his room while trying his best to sneak by his mother. The last thing he wanted to do was to introduce Naoyuki to her because Nao probably wouldn’t keep his mouth shut about something stupid.
Once outside, Naoyuki stomped his foot and glared at the teenager. His cheeks were puffed out and his face had grown red from anger. Kouyou followed the direction of the finger Naoyuki had pointed and visibly flinched.
“Kouyou, what is that?” The fairy demanded almost has if he were talking to a child again. Kouyou looked down at the ground and pouted.
“…a pocky tree…” The blonde muttered childishly to himself.
“And why is there a giant pocky tree in your back yard?”
“…because I asked Shinji for it…”
“Exactly, and what is the problem with that?”
“…it’s really big and out of the ordinary and everyone will wonder how it got there, and then people will know fairies exist…”
“Exactly, and what’s going to happen now?”
“…you’re going to take it away and yell at Shinji…”
“Exactly!” Naoyuki squealed, pulling his wand out and pointing it at the giant tree. “You should have wished for a giant pocky tree that only you can see.”
“But no one has said anything about it. Not even my mom!” Kouyou grabbed the wand with wide eyes. “I can’t let you take my tree. It’s my favorite thing in the world and I need it.” Who else could say they had a giant pocky tree in their backyard? Who else could reach out of their window when they were hungry and have all the sugar they could possibly want? That was just just a tree; it was Kouyou’s way to get hyper without anyone even knowing it.
“I’ll tell you what,” Naoyuki lowered his wand and sighed, “I’ll turn it invisible, but you have to do something for me in return.” Kouyou slumped his shoulders and pouted, his hands dropping to his side childishly. How was he supposed to prove his love to Yuu if he had to so something for Naoyuki?
“Fine, but after you help me prove my love for Yuu!” The blonde pouted even further.
“Um, I’m pretty sure you don’t need help to know how to do that.” Naoyuki stuck his tongue out in disgust.
“I didn’t meant it like that!” Kouyou scrunched his face up and made a disgusted sound. “I already know how to that, and I’m assuming I’m pretty go-”
“Okay, lets not go into detail here. Just tell me what you need, and I’ll do my best to make it happen.”
“Well, we’ll need sugar and your wand.” Kouyou grinned.

Kazuki smiled, resting his head on the palm of his hand while his fingers tapped his cheek. He couldn’t decide whether he was more amused or satisfied. The entire school day went exactly how he thought it would: easy and everyone was looking at him as if he was the most important person in the building. When he said he had people, he wasn’t lying. Thanks to them, the whole school was back to loving him; just like they should.
He couldn’t help the small giggle that left his mouth at the frustrated man sitting in front of him. Manabu was too cute for his own good sometimes. Part of him knew Manabu wouldn’t shut him out for too long. It was pointless because there was still something between them. It was simple: Manabu still had feelings for Kazuki just like Kazuki still had feelings for him. Those feelings were more than obvious to him due to all the fidgeting that came from the smaller man.
“Just say it and get it over with.” He moved his hand enough to cover the smile creeping onto his face. It wasn’t a smile that meant he was just trying to play with Manabu again; it was a smile that meant he would try harder to make things right. Sure he had Shin, but Shin wasn’t anything to him. He didn’t love Shin, and Shin didn’t love him. In the end he needed someone he could be with that meant something to him. Manabu was the only person he found himself loving, and the only person he wanted. Letting him go easily wasn’t possible because Kazuki was going to keep fighting.
Manabu bit his lip and looked down at the table separating them. Going back to Kazuki would just be a dumb idea. He had something going with Toshimasa that didn’t need to be ruined. He had spent the entire day thinking about his decision. Of course he wanted to give the other boy an answer during school, but with so many students staring at them he thought it would be too hard to talk privately. Whether everyone was back to worshiping Kazuki or not, everyone was still secretly judging them. Every time Manabu would look over his shoulder during class he would notice someone adverting their gaze, or hear someone whispering about them. Their only chance at privacy was Kazuki’s house.
“I don’t know.” Manabu leaned back in his chair. He didn’t want to deal with Kazuki being an asshole, and he didn’t want to feel as if he were two-timing Toshimasa because he really did have feelings for him that were stronger than the feelings he had for Kazuki. There was only one thing that had him considering going back to Kazuki: he could help Toshimasa take Kazuki down as long as Manabu was there to hear everything Kazuki had to say. Kazuki trusted him and told him everything. Manabu would be able to tell Toshimasa everything, but there was always the chance that Kazuki would find out. In the end it wouldn’t be so great for him, but if it helped Toshimasa he would do it… he just didn’t know if he should tell Toshimasa or not.
“If I give you another chance, do you promise to-”
“Anything for you, Manabu.” Kazuki smiled softly. “You name it, I’ll do it.”
“You have to promise me you’ll stop hurting Shin and you’ll pay more attention to me.” The smaller man looked up hopefully. It was going to be hard to juggle Kazuki with Toshimasa. Before it was easy because he and Toshimasa weren’t too serious about their relationship, but now they spent more time together and Toshimasa would visit him after work to see how he was and bring him coffee. Somehow Manabu had to keep Kazuki away from his house and away from Toshimasa altogether.
“Deal, but you have to make up for that date you turned down.” Kazuki stood up and made his way to his lover’s side of the table. “What do you say we stay here for tonight like we used to? Y’know, we make dinner together and lounge around in the living room all night?”
“That’s more like what we did after school, so it’s not really a date.” Manabu chuckled when Kazuki wrapped his arms around his neck and kissed the top of his head.
“I’m cutting you some slack here, Manabu.”
“Then I guess I shouldn’t refuse.” Manabu pursed his lips, “But I can do better.”
“Better?” Kazuki raised an eyebrow, standing up straight. “What could be better than cooking with me?”
“I’ll tell you what,” Manabu stood up as well, sliding his hands up Kazuki’s chest until they rested on his shoulders, “tomorrow I’ll come over after school. I’ll cook and give you a break. Aren’t you usually the one taking me out or cooking for me? I’ll return the favor. Today I’m a bit tired and wouldn’t be much fun, so I would really like to go home to do my homework and sleep. Tomorrow I’m all yours.”
Kazuki huffed childishly, “Fine, but you won’t be able to back out of it. Plan on staying the night with me since you said you’re all mine.”
---
“Are you busy tonight?” Toshimasa looked over his shoulder and nodded at his redheaded friend standing behind the register.
“Sorry.” The waiter shrugged and went back to his task of cleaning the tables. Some of the customers were just plain sloppy and spilt their drinks without any intention of cleaning it up. It was those sort of customers Toshimasa hated the most because they only made his job more difficult.
“Don’t tell me you have a date.” Daisuke deadpanned, leaning over the counter while the waiter continued to work. “Who is it? That one guy?” A smirk spread across his face when his friend’s cheeks began to redden in color. Of course it would be that guy; Toshimasa was constantly talking about some guy he was into, but he never really mentioned his name.
“His name is Manabu, for your information.” Toshimasa moved to the next table and began cleaning once again. “I like him. A lot. It’s been awhile since I’ve found someone who actually likes me for me, but I’m worried.” He stood up and sighed. Should he even be worrying so much? Hadn’t Manabu proved himself to Toshimasa? So why did he feel so uneasy about their relationship. Of course he didn’t think Manabu would go behind his back or anything because Manabu had been in that position with Kazuki. Surely he wouldn’t do something stupid to ruin their relationship.
“What’s to be worried about? You’ve been talking about him almost every day. From the way you talk, you’re crazy about each other.” Toshimasa shook his head, abandoning his task of cleaning the tables now that he was busy thinking about his lover. Last night Manabu just seemed a tad bit different than usual. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but Toshimasa knew something was on Manabu’s mind.
“When we met he was dating Kazuki, Daisuke.”
“Kazuki as in that guy everyone worships and you hate?”
“The one who uses people just to make himself look good? He’s nothing but an asshole, and he hurt Manabu. The problem is… well, Manabu cheated on Kazuki with me. I knew the whole time that they were together, but I couldn’t keep my hands to myself. For some reason I just like him, and I don’t even know why. I don’t even know why he’s different from other guys.” The waiter hung his head and sighed.
“Let me ask you something: does he still love Kazuki? I’m assuming they’re not together anymore since you said he was dating Kazuki when you met.” Daisuke walked around the counter to take a seat at one of the tables Toshimasa had just cleaned. Since there were no customers at the moment, he thought it would be appropriate for him to talk without a care. If anyone came in he would simply go back to the register like a good boy and do his job. Right now he wanted to help his friend through his problems even if Daisuke had no idea what was going on.
“I don’t know.” Toshimasa sat down as well. “He broke up with Kazuki during school and let everyone know he was gay. When I was at his house last night, I could tell he was thinking about Kazuki. Kazuki has a way of getting whatever he wants, which is why everyone is back to loving him as if they never knew he was gay. Yesterday they had a huge problem with it, but all of a sudden they’re worshipping him. If he had get his way with the whole school, he can get his way with Manabu. What if Manabu decides to go back to him?”
“Do you think he would?” Toshimasa shrugged and looked down at the table.
“I don’t know. Things seem to be going well between us, but that’s what Kazuki thought too. What if Manabu is just like Kazuki in some ways? What happens if he’s just using me like all the other guys?” Toshimasa let his head drop to the table, his hands tangling in his hair out of frustration.
“Maybe you shouldn’t doubt him so soon.” Daisuke sat back, “Maybe you should see how things go tonight. If he seems to be acting weird or off in his thoughts you have to do something to get him to talk. Don’t just sit back let your worries get the best of you.”
“You’re right.” Toshimasa sat up when the bell above the door rang.
---
He couldn’t believe it. Yuu almost spit out the chocolate milk he was drinking when he stepped out on his front porch. He thought he would sit outside for awhile and enjoy the fresh air, but instead he stepped out and saw blonde hair bouncing down the street. At first he was confused, but then he realized it was just Kouyou skipping like a crazed little girl on crack. Kouyou skipping wasn’t too strange, but Kouyou skipping with his arms flying around in the air was. The large, and hysterical, smile stretched across the blonde’s face was the reason Yuu had spit out the chocolate milk in the first place. The expression mixed with the skipping was nothing less than amusing.
He sat back on the porch swing and waited for his crazed lover to get to his house. There was no way Yuu was going to walk out there and let everyone know he knew the blonde maniac. Of course everyone already knew about them because he had lived on the same street since he was little, and all the neighbors knew of Kouyou. How could they not? They were constantly together and Kouyou had let everyone know Yuu was his and no one else was allowed to have unless they ‘pried Yuu from his sticky candy-covered hands’.
When Kouyou finally reached the porch his smile was only getting larger. “Um, are you okay Kouyou? You look like you one of those creepy pedophile kidnappers with that smile.” The blonde instantly pouted before he sat himself down next to his lover.
“I’m not a pedophile!” Kouyou whined, “and I’m not a kidnapper. I already have what I want, so I don’t have to kidnap anyone.”
“Are you saying you would have kidnapped me if I didn’t agree to marry you when we were kids?” Yuu looked over in amusement. Truth be told, if Kouyou had tried to kidnap him when they were kids, he probably would have beaten the snot out of the blonde and called it a day. It was obvious that Yuu could take Kouyou in a fight.
“I would have done more than just kidnap you.” Kouyou smirked. “But anyways, now that I’m here I can tell you all about my way of proving my love for you!”
Yuu raised an eyebrow. He thought for sure Kouyou would need more time to think of something decent, which meant Kouyou had decided to do something completely stupid and thought it was brilliant. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t curious.
“And how do you suppose you’ll do that?”
“Well, lets go in the tree house and I’ll show you!” Kouyou jumped up and grabbed Yuu’s hand, dragging him around the house.
“Wait, what does the tree house have to do with anything? You haven’t been here all day!” The raven-haired boy pulled on the hand wrapped around his, but Kouyou kept walking without looking back.
“Never you mind~” Kouyou waved his free hand around in the air. “Wasn’t three house deemed our first home together? Hmm? Weren’t you the one who said something along those lines? I think so, so this is where I’ll prove my love for you.”
“You’re going to rape me, aren’t you?”
“I don’t believe rape is considering proving my love.” The blonde huffed, “Besides, you can’t rape the willing.”
“Willing? Do you seriously think I would let you top?” Yuu laughed, “Over my dead body.”
“You’re lucky I don’t complain about your seme strictness otherwise we would have a problem.” Kouyou let go of his hand to climb up to the tree house. “Now get your old ass up here before I change my mind.”
“You can’t change your mind because then I won’t marry you, remember? And I’m not old!” Yuu yelled the last part as he followed his lover up the tree.
“You’re older than me so that makes you old.”
Yuu pulled himself into the tree house and frowned, stepping back and almost falling out again. His first instinct was to yell at his lover, but he decided against it. Yelling at the blonde wasn’t a very good idea since he was just trying to prove his love. What Yuu didn’t like was the fact there was a big spinning pink thing in the middle of the tree house.
“Kouyou, what is that?” He closed his eyes and massaged his temples.
“A portal.” Kouyou chirped, and Yuu could only sigh heavily when his hand was grabbed once again and he was forced into said portal.
