[Background]
A priestess at Ise Shrine met a local college student and was impregnated by him. She was abandoned, and to her dismay, learned that the child she was carrying was fated to be one of the "Dragon of Heaven." Hoping to find another life for her child, she fled Ise.

Arashi's mother loved her dearly, and was very protective of her. They lived modestly, but happily. However, things changed; when Arashi was seven, her mother died, leaving her alone on the streets to fend for herself. Her mother died telling her to live, and so for three months, she survived off of rummaging through the trash and things that others had left behind. She began to wonder if there was any point in living at all, asking herself if anyone would be affected if she died.

This was when a woman from the Ise Shrine, Kaede, found Arashi on the streets and took her back to the shrine. Even there, Arashi refused to eat, saying that she hadn't yet decided whether she wanted to continue living. But Kaede tells her that she will meet many people, "people who will be friends to you, people who will be enemies to you, and people who will love you." Grateful for her words, Arashi hugs Kaede and asks her if it would be better if she lived. Kaede replies that she would be sad if Arashi died. This gives Arashi the purpose and resolve to eat and live. She trains under the Ise Shrine for her eventual duties as a Dragon of Heaven.

About ten years later, the call came from the dreamseer Hinoto to gather in Tokyo. She meets the other Dragons of Heaven, in particular, a young man named Sorata. Not too long after meeting him, he announces that he has 'decided' on her as the woman that he will be destined to die for. She is alarmed and confused by this, and spends much of her time trying to distance herself from him.

Soon, however, her feelings for him begin to surface. She is moved -- and perhaps reminded of her own experiences -- by Sorata's ability to make Kamui want to eat (meaning that he had regained the resolve to live again.) She begins to be more accepting of her interactions with Sorata, but still tries to maintain her cold mask, turning away or responding coldly, in an attempt to keep him at bay.

Despite her resolve to pretend as though she has no feelings toward Sorata, a few of the other Dragons of Heaven are beginning to pick up on her strange behavior in Sorata's presence. Yuzuriha flusters Arashi by asking her what her feelings for Sorata are, but before Arashi can answer, they are both attacked by Satsuki. Just as a huge bridge was about to crush Arashi, Sorata -- who was unable to physically come to her aid -- sent a protective spirit to block the attack. As a result, he was horribly injured, even sustaining a paralysis to his right hand.

Frightened at the possibility of losing Sorata, Arashi finally lets down the wall she'd been keeping up, showing a great deal of distress for the first time.

[Personality]
Arashi is considered very beautiful by many (especially Sorata) but she always has an incredibly cold demeanor. She is always very polite, but distant, and is not used to displaying too much emotion. However, that is not to say that she doesn't care for others. She shows definite concern for Sorata when he hurts his arm protecting her during Seishirou's attack, for Kamui after the death or Kotori, and for Yuzuriha after her kekkai dissolves.

Having spent most of her childhood either by herself or surrounded by adults, Arashi has become quite independent. She is strong and grounded and can pretty much do anything from cooking and household chores to fighting off the Dragons of Earth. However, this also means that she is not used to interacting with, let alone being friends with, people around her age. While it is clear that she does care about Yuzuriha, Kamui, and even Sorata, she remains incredibly stoic and straight-faced through most of her interactions with them.

Arashi has been through a lot of strife in her past; her father left her mother after sleeping with her, her mother left the Ise Temple to protect her from having to become the vessel for the sacred sword, her mother then passes away when she was a small child, leaving her to fend for herself... all in all, it is no surprise that Arashi is very slow to trust others, even those she knows are Dragons of Heaven. She can also be a little overly self-reliant and ends up falling into the trap of not asking for help when she should. Arashi prefers to deal with her issues on her own and rarely ever opens up to anyone. Later in the manga, when she wakes up and realizes that she has lost all of her power, instead of turning to the new friends she'd just made -- or her new lover, Sorata, for that matter -- she seeks advice from only Hinoto the dreamseer (who would have known of the problem at hand regardless, due to her ability to see the future in her dreams) and disappears without saying anything to anyone else.

It is incredibly likely that Sorata was the first person to ever show any real affection toward Arashi since Kaede. When he first protects her from Seishirou's attack, Arashi is surprised. His actions and words often take her by surprise or greatly confuse her. She pushes away every effort he makes of getting close to her, viewing him as just another (albeit a slightly more obnoxious one) Dragon of Heaven at first and also viewing the task at hand (it's only helping Kamui to save the world...) as far more important than any potential romance.

It is when she sees Sorata help Kamui regain the desire to eat again -- and thus live; a parallel to her own life -- that she begins to think of him as more than just another friend Dragon of Heaven. At first, she is incredibly confused by her own feelings, having never really felt anything like it before. However, it isn't until she sees him gravely hurt (after protecting her) that she lets the wall that she's built around her crumble. For the first time, she shows a great deal of emotion. She hasn't had time, yet, to sort through her emotions.

[Specialties/Abilities]
* She's a great swordsman
* Arashi is is said to conceal all of the power of the Ise in her body; this power manifests itself in the form of a sacred sword that she can summon from her left hand
* She can create a kekkai, or protective barrier, in the shape of a pyramid; any damage that occurs within this barrier will not effect the outside world unless the user is killed, horribly injured, or lose a significant amount of focus/will.
* As one of the Dragons of Heaven, Arashi has faster than normal agility, balance, and strength. She's used to, for example, running from roof-to-roof or jumping down from tall tree-branches with no problems.
* She has faster-than-human healing abilities. This is not to say that she can't die, nor do cuts heal immediately, but injuries that would normally take weeks to heal may heal in a few days.

For the purpose Somarium, I've been kind of stalking the other X apps Arashi will still be able to summon the sacred sword, but can no longer create a kekkai.

[Affection]
You can try, but you'll probably get hurt.

[Fighting]
I'm open to fights! If it gets too severe, talk to me first.

[Other Permissions]
Generally, 'yes' to all. But if it's something more complex, just talk to me first and we'll work something out!
