JLPT4 X Skipping church

Dec 06, 2009 23:40

Well, I don't have much complains about JLPT held on a Sunday cos' some working people might only be free on a Sunday... So, yup, ain't gonna complain no more about why JLPT is held on a Sunday!

Woke up at 6.30am I think, got ready to meet Ros to go to SMU-SESS together to take JLPT4 and also meet up with the rest of the Bunka classmates.

Then, we got there via 190 (thought it would take long, but it was quite fast apparently) and saw a couple of people on the bus who were also taking JLPT. And well, JLPT was held in every SMU building, and not just SESS.

So, went to one of the benches at SMU to study a bit before we went up. And like wow, this was the first time I saw so many people in SMU on a Sunday. It was flooded with people, literally.

And then called Pei Shan, and she was already checking out the name list (which classroom each series of serial number would go to) at the lobby. Again, flooded with people.

Then, went up to level 5. And the classroom was pretty long horizontally. I was almost seated to the back.

Test started at 10.05am for the first section of JLPT4 and it lasted for 25min. Tricky section cos' for the Kanji words, they could have changed the number of strokes to the Kanji character, and so you have to be careful in identifying the word cos' they seriously look very similar.

Then, 20min break, toilet was crowded with people as well.

And the 2nd section started. Listening.

The listening's section 1 was not too bad, just that you have to listen for key words. Like if you see a picture of luggages, big sizes and small sizes, black and white, then you have to listen to how they describe. The narrator will describe it straighforward. So yup.

Section 2 is a bit tricky for me. Cos at first I didn't know how they work, so when they narrated a scenario and they started asking questions about whether an action is right or wrong, I panicked when I couldn't find the number that they were talking about. So I just shaded a random option for every question.

However, by question 5 (there were 8 questions for section 2), I realised how it worked and so it was more manageable.

Ok, so here's how section 2 works.

There are about 9 to 10 scenarios for that section.

For each scene, the narrator would first read out what happened. So listen carefully, understand it, and if you need to, take notes.

Then comes the questioning part.

Section 2 of listening is such a way that on the shading sheet, each question has 2 rows. The first row is known as the 'correct' and the row below is the 'wrong' row. And each row has 4 options.

So the question will be like e.g. "Why did Chan-san not sleep well?"

And narrator will read the option, "Because she was too busy with work"

And that's when you answer. If this option is wrong, you shade the second row in the question; if it's correct, you shade the first row.

Most importantly, you need to choose correct or wrong when the narrator reads out the option. So that you won't have to rush.

After another 20 minutes break, we started our last section. The particles and form-changing vocabulary section. Know your particles and verbs/adjectives/counters (1 book, 1 cup of beer and etc) well and you should be safe.

And it ended. Oh, be ready to guess what something is talking about also if you happen to not recognise what that thing is.

Then, after JLPT, I wanted to go home and not join the rest for lunch since I cannot spend money on Sundays. However, it turned out that all of them wanted to go home to rest cos' they were also tired after the exam (I was too).

It's God's blessing cos' He blessed that I didn't need to find an excuse not to join them for lunch.

And I found out that those taking JLPT3 is in the afternoon. Hurhur, good luck to Du-san who's taking JLPT...

Then after I got home, I had lunch with Ma and Cousin, and then I went to sort out the Xmas presents I wanted to give to others. Cousin was very kind to me cos' she knows I didn't have a lot of money to buy Xmas presents, so she made lots of accessories for me to give others (since they are mostly females XD) :D

And that's how my Sunday went. And I miss church. T_T And Amanda is going to fly off tomorrow, and I cannot send her off at the airport cos' I have school.

Bummer.

And I still have
  • YW-PP
  • Japanese Int-4 end test
  • Research Methods team assignment
  • FYP (very soon!)
  • Xmas presents to wrap and Xmas cards to write
  • Church primary lessons for 3 weeks for YW-PP Divine Nature 10-hour project.
Well, looking forward to the completion of these!

japanese, going out, reflections, rants
