Ahh the media.  No offense to those that labor in the information game, but seriously, please stop quoting statistics that are actually good as bad things.  For instance, this article on MSN NBC:

Census shows a widening gap among Americans

Maybe MSN.  ( Read more... )

Basically, because you need a Social Security number to work in the US, illegal's forge them. Each paycheck they get, some is taken out for Social Security, just like it is for everyone one else. But, they won't be around to collect, either because they go back home or because their SS card is fake so they can't without being detected. The New York Times reports that illegals contribute $7 billion dollars a year. Obviously, it is worth a lot to imigrants to get the opportunity to work in the country. Not only are the spending this money in the form of forging SS cards, but they're also spending money to human trafficers. Why not just say, "Hey, you want to work here, pay us $3000 a year." We still get the money and the labor and human trafficers are out of business.

My feeling is that people like Lou Dobbs and others who hype up the "border crisis" are quoting false or misleading statistics in order to play upon the racist tendencies and fears of loss of the "American Way of Life." And he does this to sell commercials to people.

I'm all for capitalism and I think Lou Dobbs has a right to the dirty money he earns turning by people against each other. But I still think he's an evil man. And I will fight him. I have faith that the market for information and ideas will find the right ones. Even if he never feels an economic backlash for his wrongs, his ideas will die eventually.
