With the Comp fast approaching and life in Mexico looking better and better, I came up with a hypothetical question. If I fled the country now, how long would it take people to find out?
Thursday
9:36 AM-Bryan departs for unknown location.
10:00 AM-Econ grad students wonder why he didn't show up to study session.
1:00 PM-MTS people wonder why he didn't show for lunch, assume it has something to do with studying.
5:00 PM-Katie wonders why Bryan didn't answer the phone, assumes it has something to do with studying.
9:00 PM-MTS wonders why Bryan didn't show at practice, assumes it he is trying to get a good night's sleep.
Friday
8:45 AM-Econ grad students wonder why Bryan isn't at comp. Call to wake him up, get no response. Slightly worried.
12:00 PM-Econ grad students call again, still no response.
6:00 PM-MTS calls, no response. Assume Bryan is partying with grad students. MTS goes skiing.
7:00 PM-Katie calls, still no response. Calls Laurie who finds out no MTS people have seen him since Wednesday. They become worried.
8:00 PM- Calls to roommates show that they haven't seen him since at least Wednesday. Check the room, Bryan is not in.
Saturday
10:00 AM- More calls with no response. Bryan still hasn't returned to room.
12:00 PM- Family notified by MTS and Jones family. They are immediately worried. They come to Clemson, talk to roommates.
1:00 PM- 2:00 PM- Room searched for evidence of foul play. None found.
3:00 PM- Computer checked for clues. None found.
Sunday
All day-Family and friends try to find Bryan.
9:30 AM-72 hours since Bryan has disappeared. Police notified. APBs are put out on his car.
Monday-
7:00 AM- News story run about his disappearance.
Elapsed Time from disappearance to full search approximately: 95 hours.
Kind of a creepy thing to think about really. That if you disappeared, people really wouldn't know about it for at least 2 days and that the full out search wouldn't start until at least 4 days later. Anyway, I don't plan on fleeing the country no matter how unlikely passing this test is.
