something gnaws: part 1
a few things have happened to me in the last few days which i think warrant entries. but, i'm tired so one nugget will have to suffice for now.
1/ hosts of cbc's smart ask and sometimes zed tv hostsmio and nobu adilman are cbc icons. this is a fact. they will go down in history with peter gzowski and ralph benmergui. naturally, i am obsessed with them. so anyways, last friday i was at a new thai restaurant on bloor, and who should walk in but mio(!) with someone who was not amazingly famous. yes. it's true. i was in the same restaurant as mio.
ok, so mio is something of a second banana to nobu and his many talents, but he's better looking, so that's counting in his favour, right? plus, i don't think i can afford the kind of restaurant that someone of nobu's stature would frequent.
i tried listening in on the conversation coming from their table, but phil collins' greatest hits were blasting over the pa, so i couldn't get a good reading on what was going on. but: in between the strains of "i can feel it comin' in the air tonight, oh lo-ord", i think i heard his friend giving mio shit for letting the cbc walk all over him, and that he was gonna have to decide what he was gonna do with his life. mio appeared despondent.
maybe this suggests that there's going to be a split in the mio/nobu partnership?
i mean, i don't want to leak anything out here, but i'm just sayin'.
i heard what i heard. or i thought i did.

upcoming in the "something gnaws" series: 1/curling with the cognoscenti, 2/neil young is a dirty fucking hippie (but i still think he's swell).
