There is some merit to what they say: One has to have had the experience of an emotion in order to read it. One can always live to feel a new emotion and through that knowledge learn to understand those of other people, even without living them. But, I should add, one must not always act upon experience. If you only in that way which seems the wisest at any given point, because you know from your own history, that the outcome is favourable in some way... Then you will most likely receive that outcome. And that is a recipe. Life should not be.

I am the shrilling saxophone.
I speak of things to you unknown.
That's why I hold you captive here
bringing you so close to tear.
But - not quite, you can't understand
how your life is so very bland.
So sing with me, you'll never know
The things that we will show.
So sing and we will make it clear
we are too dumb to fear.
