Cheney was reportedly upset at Leahy's criticism of him in connection with Halliburton's alleged war profiteering, Halliburton being Cheney's old company. When Leahy reminded the veep that he had once accused him of being a bad Catholic, Cheney told the senior Democrat either to "f*** off" or "go f*** yourself." It was clear, unambiguous language, in any case.
