I had a smashing weekend. As annoyed as I was that Bocado Tapas wouldn't take a big reservation, it ended up being rather fun to cook for a bunch of people on Saturday. I made my favorite chili recipe (last made for the ill-fated election day 2004), a couple of pizzas, and some dessert-like objects, and it mostly all got eaten.
Someday, though, I want to take a smaller group to Bocado. They are so tasty and fun!
Sunday I went to the Guy Fawkes Day Ball, which was lovely despite the bad gender ratio. I really enjoyed getting to have a lot of conversations with different people, and a number of dancers have gotten really good! It was a real joy to dance with everyone.
I enjoyed the post-Halloween party too -- the new space is excellent, and
eclecticgypsy puts together a great dance mix.
Last night I went to a musical with
oceansong, called "The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee". Despite the rather droll name, the show is very funny. One of the parts of it is that they bring three audience members up on stage to be part of the competition. They'd give the audience person a couple of softball questions, and then a really hard one and they'd get booted. Well, one of the audience members happened to get the difficult word right, and it was funny to see the stage people almost break character. :)
Today, the highlight of my day was the sure knowledge that we will all die here on the 32nd floor if there is an emergency evacuation. We had a mock fire drill, and it took us more than 30 minutes to get down the stairs -- people were just NOT MOVING. Time to bring the parachute in to work!
