Fandomness

Aug 04, 2007 20:12

I have been following the fandom problems of late and while they do not affect me personally, since I don't write PWP with questionably aged characters, I disagree with LJ's heavy-handedness in handling things. There is a little clause somewhere in most TOSes that says if you can't follow these rules, then go elsewhere and I am worried that Fandom will do just that.

I will be the first to admit that I drift along the edges of fandom. I honestly consider myself an observer more than a participant in it. However, I can't continue to enjoy my observation if I lose touch with those whom I am observing. Therefore, I have opened an Insane Journal and a Greatest journal under this same user name in both places. I'm not abandoning LJ, though I will no longer pay them either. Instead, I'm hoping to keep in contact with the fandom I love in all three places. Thanks to blackmoonruby I think I will be able to update them all simultaneously. (And a thanks to dead_sexydexy for pointing me to Ruby's post.)

If you are also considering moving, xylodemon is hosting friending frenzies on both Insane Journal and Greatest Journal so that fandom can find itself again.

I will be deleting my writing journal and placing my fanfics on my website. (It isn't happening yet, so don't freak out if you click my website and don't see any of them.) As I said, I don't feel my artistic expressions violate the TOS here. But I don't feel they are safe here and I have been planning on putting them there anyway so now I have an excuse.

Speaking of my writing, I'm halfway through my latest reworking of my book. After that comes synopsis package and query letter, and finally I can send it off to the six agents I have singled out.

I have no other news.
