Beware... rant!
Just two weeks ago the apartment overhaul next door was completed. It went on for a year - dust in the hallway, loud people, people coming into our apartment, blaring music, drilling. Finally, we thought - some peace and quiet!!!
Then today there was banging and I looked out my window to see... scaffolding being built. The tin scraped into place, the boards hammered down, and a large vertical piece put up that blocked all the sun coming into the window. Then they put up razor wire just to make the view prettier.
If you've never lived here, you may not have experienced the joys of scaffolding. According to Shitty Law (that would be New York Shitty), if you do work above the ground floor, you have to put up scaffolding to protect those on the street - scaffolding that has a roof level of just above the edge of a 2nd floor window. We are having roof repairs done, thus - scaffolding. I have to say that I was NOT PLEASED that there was a guy looking in at me when I looked out to see what the commotion was, especially because I had just arrived home and the window was open and unlocked. Aside from the dust from construction blowing freely inside, DOES ANYBODY BUT ME SEE A SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUE HERE!!!!????
I am royally steamed. I went down and complained to the building manager, who told me that since I live in the Shitty, I should just expect this kind of thing and be grateful it's not worse. She couldn't see why I was complaining about the noise or my tiny bit of sunlight or the dust. After all, it's a great Shitty - why would anyone complain about anything?
I hate this place even more. This is the most rotten, stinking, rat-infested, worm-ridden pile of ogre excrement I have ever seen. Loud and dirty and always full of rude, obnoxious, pretentious, fashion victim losers. It is a testament to what people do when they have no sense of dignity or control of themselves whatever.
Not only do I hate leaving my apartment, I hate staying in it, too. I'm so sick of this I could cry.
