I just did this over on The Rasmus One Forum, thought it might be insightful for you guys if i posted it on my journal :)
---
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Took a drag off a cigarette - I did not enjoy it! Bleh. Oh yeah, and i taught myself to play the guitar and opened a myspace music. Pretty damn proud of that.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make new year's resolutions as a rule, but at the beginning of each year i suppose i always wish with all my heart that the next 12 months will be a happy time in my life.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yeah! Two people in fact! My family be big....
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My Uncle Tom.
5. What countries did you visit?
Just little old England i'm afraid.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
A job (plus time to do said job) would be simply aces. I needs the moneys.
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory?
14th to the 28th of August - the best holiday in Wales i've ever had. Some great people, some great times, and Shakespeare in a Cathedral at midnight.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
My GCSE scores - 5 A*s WHOOT.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not kicking the asses of all my bullies in high school - I promised myself i'd get back at least ONE of them before leaving to go to college, but i never worked up the courage to take a stand. I think i'll regret that.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Hell, i'm always ill. My immune system is shot to buggery, so if anyone within a mile radius has the flu it'll find me no trouble.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My guitar strap and all the band badges that i snagged to decorate it with. I felt like my guitar finally had an identity the day i attached that red strap to it. I think it must be an muscian thing... My guitar is called Roxie by the way :P
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My cousin for marrying his true love and not thinking twice about it.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
A certain family member, who pretty much made an ass of himself as well as dug a bigger hole when it comes to us. We don't like him. No, no.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Art supplies and concert tickets.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Black Parade Tour - which was the best concert of my life so far :)
16. What song will always remind you of 2007
Passion by Utada Hikaru, which broke me into the undiscovered territory of foreign music. I fucking adore her and this song, which never fails to get me swaying with my pretend air lighter.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
A lot happy.
ii. thinner or fatter?
I'd say i was roughly the same, maybe a bit slimmer on the hips.
iii. richer or poorer?
Oh God, poorer
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish i'd gone out with my friends more, instead of getting so bogged down in my studies. And i wish i'd had more time to write, which i'm sorry to say has had my limited attention recently.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Spent less time in my studio, between the same 4 walls pouring over sketchbooks and assignments.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
With my family, yep all of them, at my house with a huge meal cooked by my mum and a few of my aunts and of course my nan. I think the current head count is 20, so it'll be extra tables down the centre of the livingroom and plate balancing when it comes time to carve the turkey.
22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
No, but i think i'm loving my boyfriend of 1 month (and counting). I think that's a story saved for the 2008 survey. I'll let you know.
23. How many one night stands?
Umm..... none? Not if we're being specific :P
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Scrubs hands down, i've developed an adoration thanks to the combined efforts of E4 and Paramount and their awesome double bills.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope, i'm flying free and holding back my hate, saving it for only special occassions. Ever since i started college i've been a more open and accepting person, so hate isn't taken all too lightly.
26. What was the best book you read?
Ohh.... umm..... I've read a lot of books this year. I think it's a draw between 'Lost Souls' by Poppy Z Brite and 'The Tale of the Body Thief' by Anne Rice. You gotta love those vampire writers.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Sonny Moore and Steve Harley. Both are equally fabulous.
28. What did you want and get?
All 9 volumes of Ouran High Host Club by Bisco Hatori. I be a manga freak. Roll on volume 10 come February!
29. What did you want and not get?
Smashing Pumpkins tickets - my boyfriend was gonna buy them as a birthday present but i beat him out of it (£80 = No chance boy! No matter how much i wanna stroke Billy Corgan)
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Good Morning Vietnam. I've watched that so many times this years it's crazy. Never manages to get old.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
I had my closest friends round for a sleepover and we watched Queer As Folk and Rocky Horror alllll night, with the essential bottles of Diet Coke and a tub of Haribo. Ohhhh yeaaahh.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Mastering those bastarding bar chords before New Year - just not gonna happen. Yet another challenge for 2008.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Whatever is the cleanest :P Always jeans, usually some form of band tee/hoodie/jacket combination going on. Oh, and significantly shorter hair.
34. What kept you sane?
Looking forward to playing my guitar in the evening, going to World Of Glass cafe with Liz for our gossips, having Jen come over for the night so we could be music nerds together and eat chicken, doing projects like big paintings at 3AM, eating dry cheerios and listening to rock music through my massive headphones. Oh, and Cafe Nero with Jonny when i miss the Rainford bus home after college.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Gerard Way, though damn, he's been my wet dream for years man :P Now he's married i may have to start fantasying about someone else - i can't take the guilt!
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
There's a lot of shit going on in the world right now which gets me rattled up - hard to pick just one to be frank.
37. Who did you miss?
All the friends i made in high school, the ones i could really count on, who i've sadly lost touch with due to that stupid thing called distance! It's hard keeping up with those you love when they're far away and you don't see them very much. But, when do get together it's pretty bitchin'.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
CRIS!! My photography buddy! And JOHN!! My hand holding buddy! Man who to choose..... So many amazing people in college, i wanna list them all....
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Get out of your fucking shell! Be who you wanna be and don't be restrained! Let the new people you meet see the face you truly believe in :) Worked damn well for me!
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I'm gonna take up a shit load of space here, but oh well, the lyrics to this fabulous song mean to much to me when set against this past year....
'The Best Years of Lives' by Steve Harley:
European maids, hard to ignore
You, me and the boys, barred from the shore
Fresh-faced imbeciles, laughing at me
I've been laughing myself, is that so hard to see?
Do I have to spell each letter out, honestly!
If there's no room for laughter there's no room for me
Try looking at you, rather than me
No truth is in here, it's all fantasy
Since the last time we met I've been through
About seven hundred changes and that's just a few
And the changes all tend to be something to do
But you've got to believe that they're all done for you
You'll think it's tragic when that moment arrives
Ah, but it's magic, it's the best years of our lives
Lost now for the words to tell you the truth
Please banter with me the banter of youth
If I knew how to say it I'd say it for you
If I knew how to whisper I'd whisper for you
If I knew how to waltz I'd get up and dance for you
If I thought I could run I'd come running to you
I've discovered now how to be fair
This I could teach you if only I dare
The only conclusion I've reached in my life
Is that if I should die I should die-by the knife
Since it's only a matter of courage all right,
Die a man or a martyr, the two would be nice, so nice
You'll think it's tragic when that moment arrives
Ah, but it's magic, it's the best years of our lives
:P
