One thing not appreciated in our culture is the nature of "morning drive" programs. Some morning drives are driven by actual shock jocks, and then some aspired to teach American civics and actually air a program of value. Morning In America, hosted by former Reagan Administration Secretary of Education William Bennett, could occassionally be what it aspired to be.
There were a few hosts that demonstrated that commercial radio could carry intellectual conversations. Bill was among the best nationally-syndicated ones, while plenty of metros had their own great brains on the air, like Chicago's Milt Rosenberg. I don't think the era of smart radio is over, but I've been wrong a few times.
I meant to post a few months back about changes in satellite radio, with the King Dude, Mike Church leaving Sirius/XM Patriot, to be replaced by Breitbart. Church, interestingly enough, is the only radio host I can think of that clinged to the geocentric model of the universe.
At the same time, Patriot dropped The Blaze for their hourly news updates in favor of Salem Radio Network news.
