This is the life you see, the devil tips his head to me )
L wore a large, distressed black wool sweater over his white shirt, and carried a small bag containing his communication device and a few incidentals. The weather reports since his arrival suggested that there wasn't much point in taking winter clothes to New Utopia, but he would need to stay warm until he got there.
This meeting point was peculiar; if he hadn't been informed ahead of time, he would have wondered if they were called there for a sinister purpose.
On some level, he still did. He had a profound dislike for the way he'd been treated so far... the abduction, the conditions, and so on. But among the things that had become apparent to him was the idea that cooperation was more likely to get him what he wanted than digging his heels in for the sake of obstinacy: playing along could improve his lot, even if it irritated him personally. If he was being held prisoner in a military encampment, it was still in his best interest to hope that the army holding him came out on top, and that they appreciated his contributions. As a matter of survival, it was only logical.
Along those lines, he found this voyage to New Utopia interesting. He hoped that the trip would help him get a better feel for the situation, and even if it was fruitless in that respect, it seemed that his surroundings would be more pleasant -- cleaner -- for a while.
He stood a little aloof from everyone else at the rendezvous point, a lanky, slope-shouldered figure looking at the people milling around him, and at the waiting column that loomed over them all.
