Sarah before, with my own 'Lil Linda Blair (who is dressed in one of my own baby dresses, handmade by my mother in the early '70's!, haha!)
She has been scrubbed, had most of the wax removed from her, a coating of pale skin (needs a lot more, to be gotten when it cools down tonight), old stuffing removed and fresh, floofy stuffing added...with primitive stitches, buttons and voodoo doll 'x's to repair over 20 small holes, tears and seam bursts.
Her owner wanted to keep the old fabric body and previous stitching (the blue, and the crotch), from years past - this was her childhood doll, as well as her own daughter's. She was worried the body would not pass par...with some strengthening with hand stitching in areas, I think she'll be good for another decade or so, at least. :)
The body will be covered by clothing, but I was given free rein to play...I do see I need to straighten and lengthen some of the red stitching...I may add more 'voodoo' x's...or buttons...we'll see...
(The heart button definitely is a symbol of life-things for the owner, and what bits and pieces she has told me about the doll, her family, and her life. I LOVE getting to know the owners as I create. Makes for many extra additions, just because; as this owner said, "you create from the heart". It's humbling yet wonderfully wonderful that people see this in the finished 'Kidz.)
P.S. Either I am so, so tired, or am getting old...but I had to put the reading/magnifying glasses upon my nose to thread the danged needle.
Omy.
