"..female sexual orientation could be accurately judged from the face and from just eyes without brows and limited to the outer canthi."

"Participants who made snap judgments of female sexual orientation were significantly more accurate than participants who made thoughtful and deliberated judgments. These data therefore evidence a robust, reliable, and automatic capacity for extracting information about female sexual orientation from nonverbal cues in the face."

Intriguing. Might have to dig out the whole article. The final claim disturbs me a little (not in the content so much as the reasoning). Would be interested to know if actually reflects that a thoughtful and deliberated judgment actually just biases the participant heavily against false positives for one side or the other. [EDIT: HAng on, does that make a lick of difference to their claim?]

[EDIT 2: Actually, now I am wondering what it actually tells us anyway. The human brain can classify things accurately quite quickly? Dare say we could get a neural net to replicate it. Presumably the real info here is that there are facial features that indicate sexual orientation in women, and dunno where you'd go with that]

[EDIT: Other than the eventual development of Bender's Gaydar...science fiction becomes SCIENCE FACT yet again!]
