Thirty-Fifth Down [Closed Commentlog]

[The past few weeks have been rather unfortunate for Sal and a great vastness of that is his own fault. He should in no way be drinking the way he is, not with his preexisting condition. He's basically been spending his days flip-flopping between drunkenness and sobriety in an unhealthy manner.

The hardest part isn't keeping a good state of mind, it's avoiding Riley. Her room is right down the hall from his--like doors down the hall--and she's been frequenting the bars almost as much as Sal has. She is a hard woman to get away from.

Not that he totally wants to avoid her... no, he partially wants to confront her. But he won't. Not 'til he's sober. If he ever is.

But with his room and the bars off limits, Sal's choices for places to drink privately are severely narrowed down. He's finally somehow settled on the kitchen in Sergei's. He feels comfortable here not only because it's Herz's place, but he's here frequently anyway. And no one else is around. That's nice. And unusual. But he's not arguing.

Sal is crouched behind one of the counters, a bottle of whiskey in his hand and his back against the wall. Right now, he doesn't mind if his diabetes kills him in revolt against all the alcohol. It can't be all that bad.]
