I have officially become one of those assholes who holds up traffic on the streets because he wants to save a little bit of gas. That's right, I'm a cyclist. I used my brothers old mountain bike for about three days and then that piece of shit broke (while it was raining, I might add), so I am now using my old BMX bike. Although its a little more difficult going uphill without changing gears, it feels good to actually use the thing for once. When I was about 12 or 13 I was into BMX for about a week (by happenstance, it was the week before Christmas, so guess what I asked for). Shortly after taking a few falls and not being able to venture to a skate park, or understand any fundamentals of BMX biking, I decided to give up on it. Ever since then I've felt kind of bad about wasting my Dad's money like that. Pretty much anything he's ever bought me I've used for years, or until it broke. I guess I was too involved in a love affair with video games at the time to do anything remotely physical. Oh well, I'm getting a considerable amount of use out of it now.
Aside from the fact that I'm getting a ton of exercise, I'm also saving an assload of gas, which is really great. I'm probably going to save up and get an actual bike, because my new place is going to be a little further from MARTA, so I'll need better means of transportation.
Joan got me Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, among many other nice things, for my birthday. The movie is freakin awesome. I never got the chance to see it in theaters, but I'm glad I actually own it now and can watch it whenever I want. Two thumbs up.
The first week of school was alright. Two of the teachers I registered for ended up not being the ones who are going to teach the class, which was a little unnerving (I'm a fervent user of ratemyprofessor.com, so my choice of teachers was a very tedious process).
This weekend was my birthday celebration with Joan's family. It was really fun, overall. I got some cool stuff: A cardigan sweater from Urban Outfitters, tennis clothes, B&N gift card (for LSAT study guides YIPPY!!!), an electric razor (sorely needed), and $20. We watched Harold and Kumar (2) and ate enough food to hold me over for a week.
The Olympics are over, which is kind of a bummer. This is probably the most I've kept up with the games (besides the one held in ATL, but that was so long ago I don't remember most of it), and I have to say it was a pretty exciting event. The opening and closing ceremonies were really cool and a lot of records were broken in multiple sports. But most importantly, USA brought home the gold in basketball. Take that Spain!!! Federer won gold in men's doubles, so I hope that will bring up his spirits for the US Open, which has already started!
Should probably sleep soon.
