Christmas at Downton Abbey

Feb 26, 2012 11:28

Nearly a week late, but obviously there are many things to be said about the last episode. No need to come up with a name for this one, I guess, but I'll subtitle it "It's All About Teh Mary/Matthew" because it totally is. :P

- What?! No dog's ass? WHAT SHOW AM I WATCHING?!

Word to the Words!

The ouija board plot was silly, I thought.

Yeah. I did do my lazy Wikipedia thing though popularity of it at that time would seem to at least be authentic.

I very much wonder how the prosecution knew to call O'Brien and Mrs. Hughes and ask them (and Robert) those questions in testimony against Bates.

This was REALLY bugging me during the episode. I could not figure out how they knew Mrs. Hughes overheard but I think the show said that Bates spilled a lot (including his remarks to Robert) when he was questioned. I have decided that Bates overcompensated too much for not coming forward with the fact of having bought the rat poison and blabbed about every possible thing he ever said to anybody that could be used against him.

Robert doesn't get many awesome daddy moments, but this was probably the best.

It was, I believe, the whole reason for the Jane subplot. Well, maybe better understanding/accepting Sybil's choice too.

I'm sure he was at least a *little* worried about the dogI thought he was a lot worried, ( ... )

I hadn't thought about Bates oversharing, but that has to be it. We know that's how they knew to ask Robert about the "former Mrs. Bates" comment, after all, so it's reasonable to guess he just told them everything. *shakes head* You'd think a decent attorney would have advised him just not to say anything (though perhaps British law differs from US law on this and he doesn't have as much freedom to stay silent?).

Yes, I think it will come back around to Carlisle in one way or another. Of course, if he is the one who had Vera killed (rather than the suicide plot)...

It's erysipelas. Still known by that name, apparently, and often confused with cellulitis.
