I foresee lots of Coney Island in my summer!
One of the things I've looked forward to the past couple of years as summer approaches is the announcement of a couple of film series that span the season. One is in Bryant Park (which is free, if you're willing to show up early and stake out a place) and the other (which is pretty cheap) is at the Coney Island Museum. Still waiting on Bryant Park, but Coney Island recently posted their list. They usually go with a theme or a genre. Last year it was sci-fi films; the year before it was horror films. This year?

June 4th - Phantom of the Paradise (which played the 1st BNAT)
June 11 - Tommy

July 2 - Hairspray (the original John Waters film)
July 9 - Rock N' Roll High School
July 16 - This Is Spinal Tap
July 23 - Rock, Rock, Rock!
July 30 - Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten
August 6 - The Blues Brothers
August 13 - Heavy Metal
August 20 - Sid and Nancy
August 27 - Bob Dylan Don't Look Back
September 3 - True Stories
September 10 - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
September 17 - Purple Rain
Of course, with the Coney Island movies, I tend to only make it to one per summer, so we'll see how many of these I actually get to see. :P But this looks all kinds of awesome. Bring on the Bryant Park list!
