Late this week, because my internet access was buggered up at work last night.
Peter & Faith - Only You
I really love this kiss from a writing perspective, because it's not just two characters kissing - there's actually stuff happening. It's like a good sword fight - you can either write 'Character X and Character Y have a sword fight' or you can write a sword fight like William Goldman's Princess Bride sword fights and Ted and Terry's Pirates sword fights. Stuff's happening, the characters are exchanging verbal hits as well as blade hits, and they're exploring the terrain of the scene. Granted, with kisses you can go overboard into purple prose, but a good writer can make it complex and memorable (and funny, if need be).
Peter and Faith's extended Roman kiss is very much like that to me. It starts with purple (well, maybe just lilac) prose - "I was born to kiss you." - then moves into comedy as Faith makes her confession and Peter uses the kiss to try and keep Faith from calling her fiance (thereby exposing the Damon Bradley lie). And then it moves ever-so-briefly into soft-core smut on the bed before Peter confesses, still intermittently kissing her, that he's not who he told her he was. It's funny, memorable, and most of all, hot.
