II - Battlesong

May 15, 2003 15:46

I can never remember how I ended this. I lost the third sheet it was written on. Perhaps I would add on later. But for now it is just a song. I wrote it many months ago for a bard character I was playing.

So great a mage
The world ne’er did see
Of such common title
Born was he

Light was his heart
Till the day came
That darkness overwhelmed
And him it did tame

Monster he became
Innocence he murdered
Cold his heart grew
His conscience unhindered

Long was he denied
The peace he was intended
For he awoke from his murder
And his heart repented

Cold and gray was his soul
Seeing what he had become
For the destruction he had wrought
Could never be undone

The touch of a woman
Saved him from his shame
And once more in ages
Proudly he carried his name

O, woe is the world
That has lost such a man
All in a fight for innocence
At the battle of Zang

The Red Wizards of Thay
Their magic bound him
Powerless was he
His own power thin

For the battle had been long
And he was weak
He had given his all
No resistance left of which to speak

Their magic strong and fresh
Their intent cruel and dark
The world a little grayer
Not possessing his spark

Stupid Question #1

If you had a third eye, where would you put it?

P.S. I tried using html tags on this one so excuse the post if it comes out with unorthodox things on it.
