I think I'm still trying to get over the fact that Mel Gibson, who is an Austrailian-bred white boy, is making a film about something that he has no clue about... When did Gibson become an anthropologist? Did he live with the nowday tribes before embarking on this film? Or is it going to be yet another film based on stereotypes created by the bloody European 'I'm better than you because I sunburn' people that he, himself, descends from?

Now, when he did Passion, that was good. It was a good movie and done well and was historically correct and, yay, had a lot of the Virgin Mary in it (which made me cry, but that's a different topic all together). Take in the fact that Gibson is a Christian, then his background gave him a bit of insight into what the movie was about... But these are Mayans. Gibson is not a Mayan, he's as far from Mayan as he could get.

Now I'm getting flashbacks of every damn movie made on America and the western front that portrays my people as fucking savages.

Bloody freakin' hell, when will people learn to make a damn movie that doesn't focus on fucking STEREOTYPES and HERESAY and placing one group above the other, because, well, gee, the WHITE MALE is better than everyone else now isn't he?!?!?!

*pauses. takes deep breath. calms self down* Exotification is the perfect word for this. Let's make people of color so damn different and seperate and, well, exotic from the "everyday lifestyle" (i.e. what white man thinks is the right way to life), which in the end only serves to create even thicker barriers between the races. Lovely. Mankind is so nice. I hope the next film director who attempts something like this falls on his historically incorrect spear and dies from the plastic spearhead piercing his flesh.

thank you. my uber long rant of confusioness and minority pride (i may be mostly white, but i'm still a cherokee indian, dammit. you can take away my color, but you can't take away my heritage.) in which i actually got a few things out that i've been harboring the last few days. i feel rather relieved now.

Ding ding ding. I think you hit the target dead center.

I'm glad you got the things out, I've learned not to bottled up my rage because then I just end up yelling about inconsequential things instead of about the things I'm actually rageful about. That ends up helping no one because the people/thing/situation you're actually angry about just goes on it's way oblivious and the waiter you just yelled at because there is cheese on you burger is just gonna go in the back room and spit in your food.

Yeah, it's probably a good ting I got that out last night, otherwise today? Well, I was at the public defender's office with my step-dad and the odds are when the guy at the desk started acting as though my step-dad is an idiot (which he often is, but only I'm allow to hold that opinion), I would have started yelling and ranting about prejudice and how this government organization is treating us native people like shit and, well, that wouldn't have helped my step-dad out any.
