It's been several days now, and when she returned to the lake, there was no sign of a specific painted turtle, though she searched for at least an hour.
So this time, Elda is armed with the counter spell, and a locating one as well.
Activating it, Elda tilts her head and follows the bell-like tone towards the rogue Prince.

All the same, he's quite easy to find, as he's got a bright glowstick sticking up from his back.

If he were able to speak, he would be ranting something about having gone in search of the foul beast who robbed him of his true and rightful princely form!
Fortunately for Elda, he can't speak yet, and thus simply appears to be goggling his turtle eyes exceptionally far out.

She carefully snatches him off the floor and carries him outside.
"It might be best if we do this out here."
Elda sets him down and draws a circle in the soil around him.
"Now please, hold still."

She reaches out with a businesslike claw and flips him over onto his back.
"Do you want to be a prince again or not? Honestly."
Consulting her notes, Elda begins her spell.

All four feet waving in the air, the Prince rocks himself furiously, and vainly peers over his stomach in an attempt to see what Elda is doing.

She had to work out a good solution to turn the prince back exactly as he was.
Even if it was tempting to make a few changes, wizards Don't Do That Sort Of Thing.
With a long sigh, she releases the spell. Hopefully it works.

The first thing the restored Prince does is check his epaulets.
But the second thing he does is charge at his tormentor!

"Cease your lies, creature! I have seen your true colors; you shall hide behind a golden seeming no longer!"
He's rather proud of that metaphor.

It's the 'little' that does it.
The Prince attempts to draw his sword, and then realizes for the second time that . . . he no longer has it.
Ooops.

"DIDN'T ANYONE EVER TEACH YOU MANNERS? OR DID WHATEVER BRAIN CELLS YOU HAVE LEFT DESERT YOU?"
