It started off on Tuesday, 26 May 2009. Coincidental somehow, the fact that I went to school, right after Ms. Agustin gave me a call... Well, she informed me that Eric and I made it to the next selection, which will be the province selection. Fortunately I went to school, so I got the letter which explained a little detail about the third phase of the training. There were 100 students who were selected to this level, and then will be selected 30 to represent every province.
Apparently the school had to pay Rp 200.000,- per student to continue to the next level, plus joining the training. Maybe that explains why we get a proper snack and lunch package everyday. =)
The training went for 7 (seven) consecutive days. Actually it was planned for 8 (eight) days, but one day is canceled. Here's the final schedule:
-Week 1: Wednesday to Saturday, 27-30 May 2009 (4 days)
-Week 2: Thursday to Saturday, 4-6 June 2009 (3 days)
So, how did the training go so far? Is there any progress? Let me explain it day-to-day.
Wed, 27 May
The first day was immensely boring. God, can you tell? Materi yang dibahas bangsanya kebutuhan, kelangkaan, produksi, konsumsi, etc. etc. yang (menurut gue) ga gitu penting. Nggak ada bedanya sama mendongeng. Bahkan gue dan Eric masih sempat main Hangman dan sambung kata. I couldn't recall how many times I've yawned. For real.
Finished at 1pm in the afternoon, with a delicious lunch package from Hoka Hoka Bento. A nice treat after a very sleepy day.
Thursday, 28 May
This morning started with a boring lecture from Mr. Agus Subroto, an Accounting teacher. Actually this was only a 'filler' before the main lecture began. We also found out about our rank/class this morning... so we were divided into three different class (A/B/C). I got rank #41 (class B) and Eric got rank #80 (class C). Thank God we're not in the same class with the controversial Benedict (still remember him? Just read the earlier entry) who got class A. Well, no doubt. Oh, and this morning also we saw him carrying a heavy book titled "Intermediate Economy"... it looked like KBBI (Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia). Could you imagine it?
Today's trainer was Mr. Pratama, a lecturer (or professor?) from UI. Materi hari ini agak 'tinggian' sih, ekonomi makro/mikro, dan semuanya ada kurva. Ngantuk. Plus Eric kerjaannya ngomong "nggak tau" terus, padahal jelas-jelas gue paling anti sama kata satu ini. (Don't ask me why; it's kinda traumatic)
Picture this: the old guy was speaking for 4 hours non-stop! Man, I wonder why he really got the stamina...
Friday, 29 May
1st session by Dra. Endah Purwaningsih (Economy)
2nd session by Mr. Dirman, an Accounting teacher from CC (Canisius College). I gotta admit that this guy is fun and knows how to light up the class. Mostly the material is about Adjusting Entries (AJP), and he taught us some tricky problems. Nice work, Mr. Dirman. We really need more challenging exercises. It was such a pity that the session ended so soon (11am). Overall today is the best day so far.
Saturday, 30 May
Another lecture at the auditorium with an Accounting teacher from UI, Mrs. Asyillah. Sleepy, as always, but her voice was quite shooting so I don't really mind a lot. =)
Side note:
Got some new friends here, mostly from public schools... My table-partner (teman sebangku, how to say it?) is Faitun Mariya from SMA 81. Nice girl. Oh, I also asked her friend for a copy of that blue book I've mentioned before. It turned out to be a very useful book so I decided to get my hands on that. The original price is Rp 70.000 and had to be specially ordered, so I prefer a photocopied version which would cost cheaper, around Rp 40.000. Seriously, this book is a material-killer. Why would I need more Economy lessons in school? xD *trying hard to keep my feet on the ground*
