Today is a... well, not a perfect day, but a pretty magnificent day. Except for Japan, maybe. Geez, that nuclear radiation thing is freaking me out. I'll discuss about it later...
To start off, in the morning, I had a chance to get up NOT early (that's a precious thing). My Accounting 101 (Pengantar Akuntansi 2) class was canceled, because the materials have been finished. That means I can get up at around 8am... Although I ended up getting up at 8.30am. My next class started at 11am, so I had to depart from home at around 10am, to avoid arriving late.
In Statistics 1 (Statistika 1) class, we had to do a presentation, as a mid-term assignment and review before the mid-term test. It was... well, my group had a case which must be solved with two-way ANOVA with interaction/replication. We decided to choose 30 people as samples out of the entire 2010 FEUI students (only the ones who enrolled in 2010, the entire population is around 500, so that's why). Consequently, it would be such a pain in the ass to do the entire calculation manually (not that much, but yeah, you get it). The lecturer didn't instruct us that manual calculation is a must, he allowed us either to do it manually or use Excel, which is of course would be much more convenient. Seeing most of the other groups doing the calculation manually, we were kinda panicked about it (I was, actually). To anticipate further fail during presentation, I asked one of my friend to write the calculation of SSA, SSB, SSI, SSE, and SS total manually, just for a back-up. Fortunately, the other friend seemed to have prepared herself to present our material, so we didn't really face a fail mess during the presentation, as I have worried about it from the beginning, thanks a bunch to her. It turned out to be just fine, to be honest, because it seemed that manual or automatic way (Excel) is OK, as long as you understand the calculation. My lecturer was also not a "killer" one, so basically there's nothing to be afraid of. Besides, (after I realized) what can you expect from a Statistics presentation? It is, well, just like that. Write the hypothesis, state the decision rule, calculate the F/z/t, and ta-daa! You get the conclusion. That's it. Really, no need to make it "as long as possible" as if you're presenting a material of Sociology and such.
All the presentations went smoothly, I guess. With lots of questions, critics, and laughter... Luckily the lecturer is in a good mood today, he didn't give us a quiz like he had said last week... Probably because the presentations turned out to be time-consuming, and there was no time left to do a quiz, and the most important thing would be, we participated actively in a positive way, not in a negative way, such as chatting around like a buzz of bees. FYI, the lecturer didn't like that, and last week the morning class was "punished" with sudden quiz because they were noisy, and we, the noon class, also had a quiz... It was just a small quiz, but because we were all totally convinced that we won't have the same fate as the morning class, we were totally freaked out. As a result, nobody got the answer right, albeit the answer was just plain simple. (nobody figured it out. why are we always think the hard way when there is an easy way? xD)
Move on to this day. Usually, I bring lunchbox if I have a full-day classes. Except for today, I didn't bring it, because I'd like to go to the Japanese restaurant called "Takarajima", located just nearby the alleyway of Kober. Full address here: Jl. Margonda Raya no.521D. I went there with a friend of mine. Just curious about it since I read the article of this small new restaurant in the recent InfoDepok magazine... it turned out that Takarajima (with the status "low price") is quite satisfying for a 50% reduced price compared to a regular Japanese restaurant in a mall such as Sushi Tei and Takigawa. That being said, Takarajima sets the price low so it can suit the budget of university students. I ordered chawanmushi, salmon kani roll (is that the name? kinda forgot), tuna nigiri sushi, and ogura ice cream. Quite a lot, eh? xD
Overall, the taste is good. Nice. Qualified, although not high quality (refer to video quality xD). Needless to say, it's true, for a price as much as that, it's worth it. At least I can eat that roll which I really2 like and the price is way lower than Takigawa and Sushi Groove.
I had a Balinese Art class at 4pm, so I walked back to FIB, while my friend went home. After this class, I found out that there's a book bazaar near the stairs in the 1st floor of the building (building #9). At first I was just wanna take a look and leave, but out of the blue, I discovered some Sidney Sheldon novels which (luckily) the ones I haven't bought yet. I bought only two though. Still two more in the list. Such a relief also I brought the list, so I know which one I should buy. The worst thing is, this book bazaar ends today. I bought 6 different books which cost me Rp 85.000. As if having lunch at the restaurant is not yet enough; I truly spent TOO MUCH today. *beep beep spending warning*
I'm extremely happy and satisfied though. Anyway I'm totally tired and sleepy, so I guess I'll continue writing this article tomorrow. xD
