where to start?
Thanksgiving with Bri and Rey. My father was incredibly cool to them about smoking...said something about wanting coffee with their cigarettes. I was afraid all would end awkwardly, but it turned out well, everybody had a good time. good for you family, thank you for that (and the tasty food).
I played Elbo Room at a show that involved a comedian and a burlesque show. very cool concept. didn't like the comedian so I left for a few minutes, which became me showing Bri where this Belgian beer bar called Monk's Kettle was (I'd been meaning to go there for awhile), which became him dragging me inside and buying me beers, us being drunk and showing up just in time to have missed the burlesque show. oops. sorry everybody.
We had a little video game party after Thanksgiving. That was cool, been a long time since I've played video games. oh, the fond memories. yes, that counts as adventure.
had my first bike ride since my crash. I think my arm and wrist are healing up nicely and can take my weight now. still a little gunshy, but it was rad....I missed it so.
went to a new sushi place (new to me anyway) called Tokyo Go Go (hear: Mooooojo JOJO!!). in the mission. bitch parking. kinda spenzive. still Kobe beef roll was gooooood. then to the Trappist for a glass of sweet sweet Carolus and a bottle of Allagash Curieux. oh yes it was a happy birthday for Brian. bastards went to City Beer without me. snobs.
- Jesus so much has happened! Imma keep going. get over the length cuz Imma keep going! -
got double-booked for a jazz gig at Speisekammer, let the other band take it but stayed to have free food. talked to Victoria. or rather, she talked to me. First it was awkward, then it was good. She seemed incredibly nervous to talk to me, and...emotional. I was taken aback, flattered a bit. I was supportive and nurturing, or as much as I could be given all the tension in the air. I told her to call me.
went to Andrew's Merry ThanksDrinking Party. it had it's good moments, but mostly it was HELL ON EARTH. I almost punched Andrew in the face if that helps paint the picture. Actually, the plan was to punch him in the stomach, and then the nuts. That was before I stopped myself.
um....I did all the insane amounts of work for my Winter Student Recital. finished it. It was great. Good songs especially - Cliffs of Dover, Bloc Party, Queens of the Stone Age, Depapepe....and yes, Owl City. and a new original by myself that people seemed to like, as well as a million other arrangements of mine. And my decent program typed up the morning of - super impressed with myself there.
went to my first Art Murmur - to the Uptown to see All My Pretty Ones. I have never seen that place so packed. Out of control, very fun.
and last night I played at Great American Music Hall for the first time. and the bass amp crapped out during our set. thanks stage crew. thanks event planners. can spring for three drink tickets for top shelf liquor for all band members AND VIP members AND appetizers AND dinner.....but you couldn't get a working bass amp? or a backup? lame. Then I went to see my sister and her boy Loren play in an Afro-Cuban group at Anna's Jazz Island in Berkeley, then Luka's for a late night burger.
Man, I know how to live it up. I'm sure I'm missing three or four other events but that's just too damn bad lj, you'll just have to make due.
No seriously I'm partying and playing like a crazy person. What a freaking awesome November that was.
And tomorrow is Beers Before Babies. And then tons of junk Saturday. And recording in Sacramento all day Sunday. Did I mention the Johnny Walnut album is finished and pressed? and I'm on it? HOLY CRAP MY LIFE RULES RIGHT NOW. swoon.
