A number of people already know this by now, bit it's too big to really fit on Twitter, at least all the details. Late last week I got a job offer down in Dallas, so I'll be moving there at the end of the month. I'm still with the same company, but in a (hopefully) much less horrible job. It's a pretty darn quick turnaround to move a thousand miles, but I think I've got a plan that will mostly work out. Two weeks from today will be my last day at my current job, and then I'll head first up to Indianapolis for the first part of Memorial Day Weekend, then start the drive down to Texas.
I'm looking forward to moving on from Cincinnati. There are a few good things here, like family, and easy driving distance to lots of conventions, but the bigger drawbacks of not having any local friends and hating the job meant it is past time to head to the next place. This does mean I may miss Anthrocon for the first time in a lot of years. I'm hoping I can still squeak it in, but that's somewhat doubtful at this point. I'll know more over the next couple days on that front.
I've already started packing up, and damn are books heavy. I didn't think I had that many, but when you're trying to keep boxes reasonably light, it adds up real quick. At least I won't be packing up my sister's library, that's easily 3-4 times mine.
