So I guess I learned this evening that, being asocial and possibly a roommate-repellant, I stand a good chance of dying cold and alone, with only Paula and Mely (my dear psych students) staunchly maintaining that the rest of the world 'just doesn't get me.' Poor excuse, as it's me who has to live with the rest of the world, rather than the other ( Read more... )

Yeah, but do you really want a Kaname-Sousuke type relationship? Sure, there are hijinks of all sorts ensuing, but the whole Japanese combination of "pretend I hate you and hit you a lot when I actually really want to be with you ZOMG WHY DON'T YOU NOTICE" and "act all cold and pretend I don't notice when you do let something slip" would probably get rather tedious in real life. Of course, I haven't seen enough Fumoffu to know how it turns out between them, so I'm mostly making stuff up. ^_^

Kätzchen, I don't say that people don't get you because I'm a psych student. I say it because I'm your friend, I (to some extent, at least) do get you, and I know it's true. Cold and alone = simply not happening. You've found people who are your friends and care deeply about you, both in Wheaton and in Lawrence. Though you may never have legions of followers, you do have a chibi-legion (in numbers, and in some cases, size) ready to defend, support or do anything we can for you the second you ask! ::waves spear:: You're a good friend and I already miss having you around. It's people like you that I'm looking for here. Thought you should know that.

Trust me when I say that there's no pretending going on, here. Sousuke is genuinely clueless, and Kaname is genuinely irritated about it when she smacks him upside the head. ^_^

And I appreciate your support. The more I think about it at a people-other-than-college-students-and-hookers-are-awake time of day, the more I know that I was mostly just in a bad mood last night, which was probably kicked off by Becca suggesting that we rearrange the room so one of us gets the bunkroom and the other gets the common room (this plan struck me as terribly unfriendly and immediately made me wonder whether she was suggesting it because of me); and I genuinely do think that I'd been reading too much Stephen King, as well...

Also: Becca-repelling = pretty easy to do and not a good indicator of your social prowess. I'd chalk her room-arranging plan up to "freshman who just doesn't get it and/or is used to having her own room and doesn't waaaaant to share." Just think of the rewiring you'd have to do! Is there any way you can point out to her the impossibility of her little idea without using the words "complete idiot"? I don't think I could, but maybe you can nice it up enough so she gets the point without getting all pissy.
