Man, somebody should fire the hell out of the marketing team for "Pacific Rim." Te trailers looked so hilarabad to me, and every time one came up, people in the theater laughed meanly at them. And yet! We went, and it's such a *fun* movie. I am so glad to have given them my movie dollars. I also was deeply pleased with the use of lady characters, although some of my friends assert that your mileage may vary on that score. I'd say its a solid "run, don't walk!" If you have any tolerance for campiness.
Just to make sure I'm clear that I am not last action heroine, though... Someone fired a shot in the car of the 2 train I was taking home!!! It was either small caliber or a popgun, not much of a report but... Well, I fled. And another lady in my party stayed in the front area of the car to hold the door shut in case we were pursued. In retrospect I feel like such a chicken, but I went for the very end of the train and crouched behind a bench. In conclusion, I am apparently a "discretion is the better part of valor" type and also movie action is much better than real type.
