Ok since I got pregnant, there have been problems. First I was high risk because of the miscarriages, and because it was twins. Then I had a bad doctor who didn't know his head from his ass. At 20 weeks pregnant We lost Kayden. On May 14th (mother's day) I started going into labor. I called the hospital and they said my contractions were too far apart. On May 15th (My grandmother's birthday) The hospital finally wanted me in there, they were going to try to stop my labor. They gave me the magnesium sulfate and the steroid to help develop the baby's lungs. As soon as she finished the steroid shot, I though my catheter was leaking. It was my water breaking. They did an ultra sound to see if I could deliver natural, and Camren was breech. They sterilized the Operating Room and prepped it for me. They took me in and gave me the spinal tap. As soon as I moved from that to the operating table, blood gushed everywhere. My placenta tore away from my uterus. The baby was loosing blood fast. So they lay me down and Dillon came in. By that time I was in shock and shaking uncontrollably. They started the surgery immediately. I tried to sit up during the surgery so they gave me so much drugs I barley remember anything. I remember Dillon crying when I looked at him. I remember them asking if I wanted to kiss Camren and I did. Then they closed me up and I went straight to the NICU where Dillon was waiting with the baby. I had to sign a consent form for them to start a blood transfusion immediately. Dillon couldn't cuz we aren't married. Then I went to recovery for them to push all of the clots out of my stomach. My mom came in to see if I was alive. The baby and I lost alot of blood. Then My Aunt and cousin come in. Then Dillon and my mother in law. When Dillon and LeAnn came in the nurse started pushing the clots out of me. It was excruciating. And Dillon saw that. So he had to leave because he hates to see me in pain. Camren was born at 4:20 am on May 16th. He weighed 2 pounds 6.1 ounces and was 14 inches long. He was on a ventilator for 24 hours and went straight to CPAP. When I got home after 3 days of being in the hospital, I had to have a home health nurse come and pack gauze strips soaked in salt water in the open parts of my incision. (I burst it open trying to pick up my youngest niece Dakota. She was upset because she has never seen aunt Teesa hurt and in a hospital.) So five days after my surgery, I went to my moms house to visit, and she called me as I was walking to her door. She was frantic. I told her to get off the phone I was standing at her door. My mom and dad come running out the door and told us to get in her van. Dillon and I were so scared! When we got in the van, she told us that Dr. Porte (the NICU doctor) had called and said we needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Camren had to have surgery! His umbilical catheter that gave him nutrients cuz they couldn't feed him, had poked through his inferior venacava (the main artery that goes to your heart) and was filling his stomach. So we got there in 30 minutes (it is an hour and a half normally) and saw him and signed all of the appropriate papers. They told us what they were going to do and they turned his room in the NICU into an operating room cuz it would have killed him to take him to the Operating Room. It was a 3 hour procedure. They finished and he was fine. Then he got infection after infection in his intestines. He finally got to come home 1 month 3 weeks and 2 days later. Then On August 8th he had to have another surgery. His pediatric surgeon that saved him on May 21st, did this surgery too. We had to go to Springdale for that but it was a minor surgery. Then on September 8th, we had to take him to Freeman Hospital again. He was lethargic. Would only whimper. Wouldn't eat, nothing. Well, when we got there, there was 5 nurses, and 4 doctors looking at him. That included the boss Doctor of the whole entire hospital. He made a few phone calls and then came to me and said he had to be life flighted to Cox South. The life flight team called me in mid air and told me he was having seizures. That is why he wa twitching and not moving or crying and was cold to the touch. So I went and got Dillon and we went up to the hospital. They ran so many tests it was unreal. The put him on the ventilator cuz he wasn't breathing on his own. They put him on Phenobarbital to control the seizures. It wasn't working so they put an IV in his wrist to monitor his artery and put him on an adult seizure medication. That worked. He had an IV sewed in his collar bone. The CAT scan that they did showed severe brain damage. The EEG they did showed low brain activity. The doctors didn't expect him to wake up but on day 3 of being there, he opened his eyes. Things got better from there. He was started on acyclovir from day 1. And they put him back on the Phenobarb along with the adult seizure medication. A week and a half later, they took out the ventilator. The pediatric floor got to know me as "Mom." He then finally got to come out of the Pediatric ICU onto the Peds floor. A week and a half later after 21 days of antibiotics, we got to come home. He is still on Phenobarb, Iron, Nistatin liquid and Nistatin powder. Now how many people do you know that have gone through so much (other than the cutest little girl I read about everyday named Dakota?) So I have to say he is a true miracle baby. I don't know how he got through everything he did but I have a pretty good idea. We still have a VERY rough road ahead of us. With the brain damage and all but the doctors don't think it will present itself. Meaning he should live a full and normal life. He has physical therapy, a home health nurse, all the meds I named a little bit ago, Dr. Ross to see, Dr. Auschcanazi the pediatric neurologist, Dr. Carlile the pediatric doctor from Cox South, and Dr. Jordan, the optometrist. So, if you pray, keep him in your prayers, if you don't, hope for the best for him.
Good luck and have fun!
Theresa, Camren, Dillon
