2004 update I stole from Thomas

Dec 28, 2004 01:57

1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
As tempting as it is to put "had sex" I think I'll play it safe and say "got engaged"

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I was too drunk to make resolutions last year (and everyone who was at my party can attest to that... except that most of y'all were sloshed too... DAMMIT!)

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sister in law surely did!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
yes, Russell, my brother's best friend and subsequently basically my brother, too.

5. What countries did you visit?
California and Florida

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
a degree

7. What date(s) from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
a lot of really painful ones. The last time Jared talked to me, the day he left for Iraq, the day I lost my virginity, the day I said goodbye to Sean before he left for Iraq... and some awesome days, too... the day I met Denver, the day he proposed...

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
4.0!

9. What was your biggest failure?
I failed at a couple big things

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
sure

11. What was the best thing you bought?
my plane ticket to Florida

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
a bunch of different incidents

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
sometimes, my own. Otherwise, people that used to be my nearest and dearest who showed me otherwise.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, bills, gas, food, booze. (Thomas, we're so the same)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Getting engaged!

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
I dunno, but I know I can't listen to "Drive" by Incubus ever again or most of Three Doors Down...

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier. I got engaged around the same time as I was getting my heart smashed
ii. thinner or fatter? actually about the same
iii. richer or poorer? richer, because I actually work

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
budgeting

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
wasting money, crying over other people

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I SPENT Christmas in Houston with my family (minus Sean) and Denver

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
yup.

23. How many one-night stands?
at least 3...

24. What was your favorite TV program?
KC and Casey have gotten me hooked on CSI Las Vegas

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I hate several people that I loved this time last year. They suck at life.

26. What was the best book you read?
I read a book? Hmmm... Cosmo.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
huh?

28. What did you want and get?
To be in school again

29. What did you want and not get?
Jared back, but I think that was for the best, no?

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I didn't see enough films to vote.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Had "afternoon delight" with Miss Liz "Winfrey" Brown, then went to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, then got ridiculously drunk on 6th Street with my fantastic friends. I turned 23.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not spending it missing Jared and crying about that one.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Carrie's the only person I know who has a "personal fashion concept" and most of the time it's not a good one

34. What kept you sane?
99% of the time: Laurin, Alyssa, Denver, and my shrink

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
"Fancy"?? Did Carrie write this?!?

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't even wanna get started

37. Who did you miss?
Honestly, still Ja.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
DENVER!!!!!!!!

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004.
Sometimes, really really terrible things are gonna happen to you. And they're not your fault, but they're still gonna make you feel some awful feelings. It's okay to be angry, but don't let that anger control you, and eventually, give the negativity away and move on a stronger person.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"1000 lights have made me colder and I don't think I can look at this the same"

Basically, 2004 is going down as the absolute worst year of my life. Yes, I met Denver. Yes, I got engaged. But by and large, so many awful things happened that I will not likely be looking back with too much fondness on 2004.
